If you have already e-filed you are not able to cancel your return. If you have not filed yet you can just choose to Clear and Start Over. This will remove all of your information  you entered. To Clear and Start Over go to My Account and select Clear and Start Over.Any information you input into TurboTax is not transmitted to the IRS until you select the Transmit My Return.

I have not filed my return and would like to cancel my payment. How do I do this if I cannot "Clear and start over"?

As long as you have not submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return and start from scratch by following the steps here. Otherwise, you must wait until the IRS accepts or rejects your return, which will be around February 12 when the IRS opens efiling.

One of the returns will be rejected depending on which is accepted first.  Two returns with the same SSN won't be accepted by the IRS. The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on February 12, 2021.

As of Nov 2024, this information is no longer accurate.

Right.  You have added on to a very old thread over 4 years ago.   It is too late to clear a 2023 return and start over.   You have to switch to the Desktop installed program.   Or what is you question?  @Otterman4
