How can I get my money back when turbo tax provided nothing I can use?

I used turbo tax because it said it would be free. However, if you’ve had unemployment, it’s not free. So although it was expensive for something I can do myself, I decided to use it since it could be efiled. So after putting in the payment info, it takes you to another set of questions that show I can’t efile, but there’s no way to get your money back. They sent a pdf of it but my reason for efile it is I have no printer. I also noticed the form needed for unemployment is not there so even if I can find someone to print it for me, I can’t use it. I will have to do it myself and I want my money back. The pdf is useless.

Why did it say you can't efile?  Maybe we can tell you how to fix it and efile.

It said I had to have my tax return from 2022. I did my taxes at home and don’t have a copier so I didn’t keep a copy

It probably rejected for the 2022 AGI.

Try entering 0 for the AGI. The IRS might have processed your return later so the AGI didn't get entered in time.  Especially if you mailed it.  That works for most people. See,

If you can’t get it to efile you will have to print and mail it.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

You need your 2022 AGI to efile 2023. The AGI is on 2022 1040 or 1040SR line 11. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.

If you didn't file 2022 or filed it later in the year or mailed it, then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.
