E-filing problem, getting "Transmission Trouble" about 7 times since Sunday noon. Tried clear cache, using different browser, disk cleanup, restart etc, nothing works.

Do you have the same experience, how to fix this? Thanks!

Transmission trouble occurs either when your account is on a billing hold or when Pay With My Refund was accidentally added twice to your shopping cart.

If your account is on a billing hold  please log out and wait up to 24 hours for the hold to release.

If you have 2 refund transfer products in your shopping cart follow the steps below.

  1. In the left menu, select Tax Tools.
  2. In the expanded menu list, select Print Center.
  3. In the TurboTax Print Center, select Print, save or preview this year’s return.
  4. On the Like to print your return now? screen, select Pay Now.
  5. This should fix your shopping cart and take you to the shopping cart screen.
  6. You can now choose to pay for your return with a credit card or Pay With My Refund.

Once you've paid, you'll be able to transmit your return.

The same problem.  Would be nice to get a more clear explanation of what the problem is. If there is a hold, that should be clearly indicated.

To check what else can be done, see: E-filing Problems that includes other support articles like What if Transmit Returns doesn't work?

Some other possibilities:

Make sure the device being used meets minimum system requirements.

Since you've already cleared cache and deleted cookies, see: Allow cookies and pop-ups.

@KathrynG3

I had checked that thread and others, including threads on potential issues with the phone number (I should not have had that problem). Eventually, I managed to transmit my return and it was accepted. But it took me two days of extensive tinkering, including trying three different browsers, restarts, trying Mobile, clearing of cookies, changing phone numbers etc. The support could not help me. In any case, the onus is on the TTax software to provide me with a diagnostic and a clear error message, instead I was bounced back to the efile screen again and again.

I am positive the problem was on your end, most likely something was not working on your server. I am actually experiencing a similar issue right now - the "Download/Print" button is not working. Again, I am seeing no clear error message. The button just goes to work, I get an email that my return was accessed, but I do not get the actual return as filed.

Thank you for clarifying the situation. I'm sorry for the difficulty.

Assuming your device does meet minimum system requirements, it could be a screen resolution issue that is preventing the full screen from displaying.

See: Troubleshoot blank screens, missing buttons, or missing images.

@KathrynG3

Thanks for the suggestions. I am using the online version and I can see and print the PDF files without any problems. I am also able to download and print my 2019 and 2018 returns from the TTax online interface but not the more recent 2020 version. This is clearly an issue on the TTax server, not on my end. I am also seeing the same error on the TTax mobile app. The only suggestion for this problem that I found on this forum was to wait for a few hours, but it has been two days already.

I understand. Even though the trouble may not be on your end, there still may be things to do to get past the delay.

Besides the E-filing Problems, Security Software or Internet Connection articles, try: Your transmission didn't go through due to a server problem.

I'm having the same issue.  I've tried the whole cookie things.  I've tried three (3) different computers and I still get the same message.  This is extremely frustrating.

Maybe you have large files uploaded from your stock trading or crypto accounts. Try to just upload the required files like 1099-INT and 1099-DIV files. That helped me. https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/investment-income/file-return-see-transmission-trouble-trouble/L1DRYYMEh_US_en_US

It is too late to efile 2023 pr prior.   Efiling closed on Oct 15, 2024.   You have to print and mail 2023 now.

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

Then when you file for 2024 you need to enter 0 for the 2023 AGI since you are filing 2023 late.
