How do I file my return when I see the Transmission Trouble or Trouble Printing screens?

by TurboTax22 Updated 2 weeks ago

We have found that some TurboTax Online customers with a large, complex tax return or a large number of imported stock or cryptocurrency transactions are seeing a Transmission Trouble or We're Having Trouble Printing Your Return screen that says to Check Status and prevents them from e-filing or printing their return. This is happening because the file size is large and complex. Usually, it's because the number of stock or crypto transactions you imported is beyond our current limits in TurboTax Online.

We are continually working to increase our import capabilities so we can improve the tax filing experience for our customers.

Sometimes this issue resolves itself. However, if you haven't been able to enter your stock transactions into TurboTax Online this year, you have two options to fix this issue.

  • Enter the summary details of your stock information instead of entering individual transactions.
  • File your taxes with TurboTax Desktop, which can import up to 2,000 transactions.
    • To help you continue e-filing your return, we'd like to provide you with a free download of TurboTax Desktop software. Call us at 844-206-1631 to choose between Windows or Mac, and the expert will guide you through transferring your information from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop.
