Sorry, Online for 2018 is closed now so you can not start a new 2018 return or finish one. Online is only for 2019. Oct 15, 2019 was the last day to efile.  2018 is now the prior year.

You can only buy the download for prior years. You have to buy a separate program for each year. They only sell the last 3 years. You need a full Windows or Mac computer to install it on. Buy the download here
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

You have to print and mail prior year returns. When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return. Don’t forget state.

Important! Mail Federal and State in separate envelopes and mail each year in separate envelopes.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline. You have 3 years to file for a refund. If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.

Everyone has been so much help.  I filed an extension on my 2018 taxes and I am expecting a nice return. I know that sounds unusual. Usually people owe and that is why they file the extension.  That was not my case.  I ran the error check on Turbo tax, all ok, printed and and mailed the taxes.  I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to check the the status of my tax return.  People file extensions all the time, so maybe I am just missing something simple.  Thanks in advance.

To get the status of a prior years return, you can call the IRS directly. They will be able to provide a status update for you. Please don't select option 1 for a refund, as that will only provide information for the current years return. For information on how to contact the Internal Revenue Service please click the link below.

Are you on SS?

If you only get ssi or SS or SSDI  it is not taxable and you do not have to file a return.  And there is no benefit in claiming dependents or deductions.   Unless you have federal income taxes withheld from the benefits or you get health care insurance through one of the state marketplace exchanges and receive a Form 1095-A then you need to file a tax return.

And you can't efile a return with no taxable income.  If you want to file you will have to print and mail it.
