It is saying that my Missouri Return needs to be fixed. It's saying that for Form MO-A: TP-Kansas/St. Louis Refund should not exceed the prior year state and local tax refund reported as taxable on your Federal Return. I have never had to deal with this and am not sure what to do.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Check the state and local refund amounts in State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G to make sure those numbers are accurate.
I am having a similar problem with the smart worksheet on MO-A not importing my taxable refunds from prior year state and local returns. I received a Kansas City partial refund on my 2020 return due to working part of the year from home outside the city, as well as a state refund. The worksheet should be totaling those two values in box A then subtracting the portion that was the Kansas City refund in box B for a positive remainder in box C. Box A is not being properly imported from the federal return. This problem requires technical assistance.

You are probably better off having someone walk through the return with you to look at your entries so I recommend getting live expert help.

However, that requires upgrading your product which may be an expense you don't want. In that case you can call an expert and ask questions over the phone.
