Thank you so much to everyone who participated! We appreciate you sharing your experiences with our community. A winner will be randomly selected and contacted to claim their prize.

A friendly welcome to our new and returning community members!

We’re excited to share another sweepstakes and another chance to win a $100 gift card with you. This month, we’re discussing Family Tax Credits and Early Filers.

Stepping into the New Year, for many, tends to bring the energy of a fresh start. Whether it’s after a ton of holiday excitement spent with loved ones, or after a long winter’s nap (and probably way more sweets than we want to admit) the motivation tends to be high to get things accomplished and to also make some serious changes moving into the future.

In 2024 eating better, improving physical health, and being happy are at the top of Americans’ lists, with the number one resolution for the New Year being to save more money!   (Hint: you can do this by filing early and maximizing family tax credits).  And while re-evaluating our relationship to finances is certainly something we could all work on, we’re asking our community members to share with us what motivates you!  What gets you out of bed in the morning?  Think about the little things; a great cup of coffee, a kind smile  from the bus driver,  or  getting to do something you love.  Replying to this post with that personal thing that motivates you enters you in a chance to win a $100 gift card.   A winner will be randomly selected from this thread on January 29, 2025.

If you have questions about Family Tax Credits and Early Filing, please check out this blog post and join us for a LIVE Q&A on  Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 any time between 9:00am and 5:00pm Pacific Time to ask Tax and Financial Experts  your questions and get advice about taxes and personal finance, for free! Learn more and RSVP here.

What motivates me to do better is is my two children. I am a single mom with two boys ages 14 and 6, on low income disability. However, that doesn’t stop me from trying to raise additional funds anyway I can so that we can live comfortably. Therefore, I have side work that I do to gain additional funds for my family. Without my side work me and my family would have a very hard time getting by, we still do even with the additional funds so winning $100 gift card would be a great help!

What motivates me?  Doing better for my family and clients.  Helping people resolve their tax issues is also very satisfying.

Of course all my kids motivate me. I have 4, but my oldest two motivate me the most. They are 12 and 14 and have been through so much their whole lives. Their dad going to jail when they was very young. Being homeless, moving house to house or me having to let them stay with family members a great portion of their lives. Going through things in school and them feeling like they needed to be on medication. Also recently losing very close family members their grandmother and my uncle) whom played a big part in their lives. And through everything they never complain! They fixed their school problems and started getting good grades. They have handled life situation kids shouldn’t have to go through better than a lot of adults. So they motivate me to get up and go extra hard everyday so these next couple years of child/teenage years they can enjoy into adulthood!

My children always motivate me to do better, be better. I am motivated to file early because we try to do something fun for spring break every year. We can't afford much but I try to give them positive family memories to carry with them through life.

My motivation is seeing the dawn of a new day, watching the sunrise as I make breakfast for my family. New day, new beginnings! Life is amazing & never should be taken for granted.

I'm motivated by my kiddos every day.  I have to keep on going for them even when I'm tired and don't feel like I can do anything else.

What motivates me every morning is to be given the opportunity in my career to help people! The hardships people endured during the lockdown period still haunt us to this day so to be able to provide assistance in the most basic ways (food and shelter) really nourish the soul.

What motivates me is my hard work and dedication to furthering my education in the medical field so that I can do more good in the world and help others. I am currently applying for paramedic school so my savings is being stretched a bit tight at the moment, and a little extra cash goes a long way especially in these hard times. Pinching pennies is a good practice to have, even in the best of times. moving forward into a new beginning to make a huge impact in others life is what keeps me going. We only get one life, why not make the absolute best of it.

What motivates me the most is my four grown sons! They have been through hard times that most people couldn’t even imagine from having their daddy pass away at the age of 41 from a brain aneurysm that we had no idea about, and during the worst year due to COVID so none of them were allowed to tell their daddy bye or that they love him. The 2 oldest ones both lost their best friends, one of which was murdered and the other in a car accident with my son, whom held his dying friend in his arms until he took his last breath, ugh! Then their pawpaw found out he had an aneurysm in his Aorta and we all had to sit and pray with him through that too! I watch my kids in pure amazement and I know if they can still push themselves to get up and work and carry on every single day, by the grace of God himself, with no drugs or alcoholic beverages, then I sure as heck can move on with my life sober as well!! I love my family and i truly am blessed way more than i deserve!!!

What motivates me the most is getting up every morning and getting ready for work. I was told I would never be able to work to again do to an illness and I proved all the Dr and specialists wrong. I have been working for 2 years now.

What motivates me is my 3 daughters. They inspire me to do better create a better life for all of us which is why at 40 I'm going back to school. To show them it's never to late to finish what you start.

I guess the thing that motivates me and makes me get out of bed in the mornings are my workout classes. Since I retired at age 65 and will be 69, February 28th... I attend dance, yoga Pilates classes. Also body pump classes. They started at 8:15 AM every morning and that makes me get up and get rolling. That is truly my motivation..

I am motivated by the incentive of receiving my tax refund. I always use TurboTax to file early so I can have my taxes out of the way and know they are done confidently! This year I’m getting a refund and I can’t wait. Thanks TT!

That small amount of time each day when the world is quiet, sipping my coffee & contemplating life before heading to work.
