TurboTax thinks I haven't e-filed yet

Using TurboTax Basic 2021. I e-filed my federal return, and I got the email confirmation.

However, when I reopen my 2021 tax return, the program claims that "You Haven't E-Filed a Tax Return Yet".

My first submission was rejected, so I was trying to figure out what's going on, but because it thinks I haven't e-filed, it doesn't show me what's wrong with the submission, and just tries to file the same one again.

Help?

Are you in the wrong account?

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

To get a copy of your previously filed returns prepared with online TurboTax https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900748-how-do-i-get-a-copy-of-a-return-i-filed-in-turbotax-online

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Thank you for the reply, but I am not using TurboTax Online.

I am using a Windows version of TurboTax Basic 2021. So, I don't think it has anything to do with the accounts.

I called the TurboTax support today. The rejection reason was "Fed_1116_Carryover_Foreign_Taxes - There is a potential issue with the calculation of the carryover of foreign taxes."

According to the TurboTax support representative, the Form 1116 is not finalized yet. It's supposed to be updated on 3/18.

So, it seems I'll have to try to update TurboTax desktop after 3/18, and try again.

We'll see how it goes.
