Tax Year Prior to 2020: Talk to Customer Service Person?

It seems that I was charged for two licenses when I downloaded the 2018 version of Turbo Tax.  I must have clicked the button twice or something?

How do I speak to a person to arrange for a credit for my unused version?

Thanks!

To contact TurboTax customer service/support use their contact website during business hours. If the problem concerns any type of refund for fees, use the key words billing issues and do Not use the word Refund or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.

If the funds are not available in your account on the refund date, keep in mind: "It takes additional time for refunds to be processed after leaving the IRS, and for financial institutions to accept and deposit them to bank accounts and products like debit cards."

@Thamara0679  Did you use the "Pay with my Refund" option? Did you receive a email from "Santa Barbara Tax Products Group "? If so, please see the TurboTax FAQ below, which will explain the email you received:

Why is my federal refund on hold with Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (SBTPG)?

Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.

If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Are you referring to your tax return filed already through identity theft?

If your Social Security number is compromised and you know or suspect you are a victim of tax-related identity theft, the IRS recommends these actions:

  • Respond immediately to any IRS notice: Call the number provided.
  • If your e-filed return is rejected because of a duplicate filing under your Social Security number, or if the IRS instructs you to do so, complete IRS Form 14039, Identity Theft Affidavit.  Use a fillable form at IRS.gov, print, then attach the form to your return and mail your return according to instructions.
  • Visit https://www.identitytheft.gov/ for steps you should take right away to protect yourself and your financial accounts.

Once your tax return has been accepted, only the IRS can provide information as to why it is taking longer than expected. Since it has been over 21 days since your tax return has been accepted, please see What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?  for information on contacting the IRS.

My taxes are being held. I think someone claimed my daughter what do I do

It depends.

Were you able to e-file your return?

If so, it may just be taking longer to process your return.  If someone had claimed your daughter, you would have received a rejection notice when trying to e-file.

The IRS issues a lot of refunds within 21 days, but it has been taking longer with the stimulus payment being issued in addition to the tax refunds.

The online link is your best option to track your refund.  I have attached a link with more answers from the IRS as to why your refund may be taking longer to process.

Also, be aware, the IRS operations are limited during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Attached is a link with more information as to what departments are available to contact at the moment.

Hi,

Can you pull up my profile and file status?

Thank you!

Unfortunately, no.  No one in this public forum can access your e-filing status.  But you can do that by following the instructions below.  @Ojcarter

Sign in to TurboTax to check your current status. You'll find it in Tax Home after sign in.  If you've got an Alexa device, you can enable it to check for you.

If you used TurboTax CD/Download you can check your e-file status by opening the File menu and selecting Check E-filing status or by opening your return, selecting the File tab, and selecting the Check E-file Status header.

Keep in mind:

  • E-filing status is what stage of the process your return is in.
  • Refund status is when you can expect your refund. If that’s what you’re interested in, go to Where's My Refund?
