Make sure you are logging into the same account that you used to file your 2016 return. It is possible to have more than one user ID linked to the same email address. You can use our Account Recovery page to make sure this isn't the case. If you used TurboTax CD/download software to file your 2016 return, then your return will be saved on your computer's hard drive normally as a .tax file wherever you chose to save it to and not online in your account.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

Any saved tax data files or PDF's of the 2018 tax return will, by default, be stored in Documents and in the TurboTax folder when using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions. Search your hard drive for the tax data file from 2018, it will have a file extension of .tax2018. Also look in the Recycle Bin if you are using a Windows based personal computer.
your screen went down just as we were finishing my taxes. Now it wont come back up. Is there anyway you can bring it back up? you have my personal information!!!!
Hello is anyone out there? Maybe this was a bad idea!!!

You have to sign onto your online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.
Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one). Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.
Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
