Once the IRS has accepted your e-filed return, you can check the status of your refund by going directly to: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Additionally, you can check out this Help Article for instructions on how to track your state refund.

@MoniqueLO_ State of NC isn’t processing returns until early March .
but I received a email that said “your refund is on the way”

You will need to check with the IRS and State of NC to see if your refund is on the way. We do not have access to that information. Please see this Help Article for information on how to check your e-file status. Once your returns are accepted, you will be able to track them.

Refunds usually take about 21 days after the IRS has accepted your e-filed return. If the IRS has accepted your e-filed return, you can check the status of your refund by going directly to: https://www.irs.gov/refunds

In regards to the state of North Carolina, you will want to check back in early March. Please see How do I track my North Carolina tax refund? for refund information.
