Are you using Online Deluxe?
The online Deluxe Edition cannot prepare Schedule D or Form 8949. It also cannot prepare Schedule E, F, or a Schedule C with expenses. It cannot enter a K-1.
The desktop editions (CD/download) can handle Schedule D and all the other usual forms.
If you started in Online Deluxe, we can tell you how to switch to the desktop version if you want. Otherwise, if you stay in Online TurboTax, you'd need to upgrade to get Schedule D.
Online Premier can handle Sch. D and E, but not F or a C with expenses.
Online TT Self-Employed can handle all of the above.

I have always used the CD Deluxe version for several years (with Schedule D transactions), and never had a problem. I never was made aware that I was using the "Desktop" version. This year the CD Deluxe version was no longer available. I was never informed that the download version was NOT THE SAME as the CD version. So I ordered the download version. WHY weren't customers informed of the shortcomings of this new version? I think this is a major problem CAUSED by Turbo Tax (false advertising?) Also I was never informed about being able to switch to the "Desktop" version. I would gladly switch if it didn't come with DOUBLE BILLING, i.e. being forced to pay for both software versions, which then qualifies Intuit as guilty of scamming customers.
This FAQ is how to switch: How do I switch from TurboTax Online to TurboTax Desktop?
If you were charged twice you can call TurboTax Customer service or request a refund.
@patc135 All the TurboTax desktop editions include all the same forms, schedules and worksheets. The Deluxe edition supports Schedule D and Form 8949
Go to this TurboTax website for forms and schedules supported by the desktop editions - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/irs-forms/
When you were entering the investment sales using the Deluxe desktop editions, you probably landed on a page that was Recommending that you upgrade to the Premier desktop edition. That was Only a Recommendation, it was NOT a requirement.
The page probably looked similar to this one, where I am using the Premier edition and entering tax data for self-employment, so the Premier edition is Recommending an upgrade to the Home & Business desktop edition.
@patc135 Yes the Download is exactly the same as the CD. Did you buy the Download? Seems like you accidentally got into the Online version instead of your download Desktop program. After you install the download you can continue from your online return.
