TurboTax Premier 2020 Mac will not open

Product installs OK from CD. Icon bounces briefly on task bar then stops. No messages or alerts.

This did not correct the problem. TurboTax is having an initiation problem with the icon bounding. I am familiar with Security settings and Apple notifications and that is not the case here.

Again what OS are you running.   I have no problems with it opening.

I know of no problems with that.    Try restarting the Mac.

i did have some success with product when I first installed it in December. Then today I think it tried to update but no messages just failed. Did full uninstall, reinstall from CD restart and now nothing.

Simply re-downloading does nothing since the problem might be in a support file that must be deleted in addition to the application.

 

Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file.

The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install. That will not delete or change any .tax2019 data file that had already been created with the tax data.

To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.

It's pretty clearly bug in the app, its crashing (no "uninstall" helps):

I have no problem whatsoever.  I suggest that you call TurboTax support and ask for Mac technical support.

Clearly doesn't work at all on macOS 10.15.7.  Pretty sad that 'on-line' download is same outdated version from October as is on the CD...

 

Good that Amazon offers free returns on this. If this is not fixed soon better just return for full refund...

The current download should be the Jan 7 updated version that has crash fixed in it.   I suggest doing the uninstall again and download a fresh copy from TurboTax.    If purchased form Amazon then call TurboTax customer support to get the current fixed version pushed to you.

Download is still old version (from https://shopping.turbotax.intuit.com/), still getting old broken version:

Why would I need to call and wait forever on phone for new fixed version? Doesnt make any sense.... Why arent updated downloads freely available....

I just downloaded the .dmg install file for Home & Business from the TurboTax website and it is indeed version r12.029 that was released on January 6.

 

I do not know what you are downloading or looking at but all versions were updated on Jan 6.

I login to intuit.com and go to downloads, only option I have is: 

 

TURBOTAX PREMIER TAX YEAR 2020 MAC DOWNLOAD AMAZON

 

Which clearly has not been updated as it's still old "2020" version:

OK - that appears to be the AMAZON version.     I really don't know how they update the Amazon version because it is a special product just for Amazon.     I recommend that you call TurboTax support and see if they can push the the Jan 6 version that will probably solve your problem if you delete all files and install from scratch.

It was waste of time calling TurboTax "Support", as all you get is instructions how to download the same old broken version...   I guess best course of action is to get refund from Amazon, if enough people do that that should make intuit wake up and fix the issue, before amazon pulls the item from sale...

So after following guidance to remove all Turbotax related files, deleting the app, restarting, reinstalling from CD, restarting, and having the same behavior I gave up for awhile. Then the next day at a different location and wifi access, I tried TurboTax and it processed the update and seems to be running OK now. Maybe a problem with the update app on Catalina?

Someone has updated something somewhere whether it's Apple or TT. It has started working without doing any change.
