Gosh, they make you run through a ton of screens...but heres what worked for me.

Top of the screen

My Account > Tools > Topic Search > enter 1099MISC in the box

enter the Payer and the Federal ID # shown on the form CONTINUE
fill the amount in Box 3  CONTINUE
describe the reason...I put  Other Income  CONTINUE

 None of these apply  CONTINUE

No It Didnt involve work like my main job CONTINUE

I got it in 2016 CONTINUE

No It didn't involve an intent to earn money CONTINUE

Do you  have another 1099MISC   NO

Then Click DONE

Now the amount shouldn't show it as self employment income

1099MISC with an amount in Box 7 is generally considered Self Employment income.  Are you sure its not a 1099R ?

That shouldn't be counted as self employment income....give me a few minutes to run through the program and see how to make that classified correctly.
