That's because the 2017 TurboTax software cannot recognize your file, since it cannot open a .zip file. You'll have to unzip it first and then find the data file, which ends in the *.tax2017 extension. And then the 2017 software should be able to open the data file.

The only thing your 2017 software can open is the *.tax2017 data file.
If you made the zip file, then only you will know what you zipped up in it.
Search your entire system to see if you can find the *.tax2017 data file, also check backup media, and the Recycle Bin.

You're welcome. Be aware that emailing of tax files is not recommended. Normally routine email is not a secure method of transmission. Tax files have a lot of personal data including DOB, SSN, banking info, etc.
