I didn't get a w2 and this was the same situation with this employer for 2019. When I called re the 2019 w2 they said I didn't need to report the income if it was less than 1000. Id didn't report it for 2019 and was fine, but this year I'm getting a bigger refund so far and don't want to appear s though I'm hiding anything.
IRS says you are to report all income received during the year on your income tax return.
You may not have made enough income for them to be required to issue you Form W-2, but that doesn't mean you don't have to report it as income.
You can use Form 4852, Substitute W-2, to report the income in the return, but will need the employer's EIN in order to e-file it. You may be able to ask a co-worker if they have the EIN or if you have it on a prior year W-2 you did receive.
Refer to the following link for additional information on using Form 4852 in TurboTax:
You can file a conventional paper return that includes IRS Form 4852 if all efforts to obtain a W-2 from your employer have failed. Here's how to fill one out:
Returns including Form 4852 can't be e-filed per IRS regulations.
