You do not get a stimulus check for a dependent who is over the age of 16.

You cannot get the Recovery Rebate Credit for a dependent 17 and older.

Also, if your dependent files a return he/she won't qualify for the Recovery Rebate Credit because he/she can be claimed as a dependent.
