To get your partner discount, make sure to prepare your taxes at the special TurboTax site provided by your bank, credit union, or insurance company – not at TurboTax.com, which charges the non-affiliate price.

  1. Go to the special website provided by your bank, credit union, or insurance company and select the TurboTax link or icon.
    • This will take you to the special TurboTax-branded affiliate site with the discounted pricing.
  2. Select your product, sign in, and start on your tax return.
  3. When you get to the Review your order screen (in the File section) you'll see the discounted price along with the message Your discount has been applied.

Please note that our agents are unable to apply or issue refunds for affiliate discounts if the return was prepared at the regular TurboTax.com site.

@ProductExpertJustin If you are not trying to use an affiliate discount code then what "normal" discount code are you referring to?    The current fees as shown online are early bird discount fees---the fees will increase on March 1.

All of our discounts are included in the product price on turbotax.intuit.com @ProductExpertJustin.

I have not gotten an answer that matches my needs. I completed my taxes but could not find where to put the discount code in. I ended up completing my taxes and paying Turbo Tax them before I could apply the discount code. It was not obvious as to where to input the code and now it's too late. I gave my information to someone at your customer support call center and sent you an email with all this info. I still don't know if I am going to get the discount. Please reply to my question as stated above.

@KenM3

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue.  If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help.  Do not use the word “refund.”

I had this same question, as I'd received a coupon from Turbo Tax in the mail for filing before April 1st. It was NOT AT ALL obvious how to apply this discount, and Turbo Tax has incorrect/misleading information on their help page. When I searched under help for "how to apply discount" and "how to apply coupon," the only thing relevant that popped up was "how to apply service code," which informed me that service codes are given by "Support Specialists" and are NOT the same thing as discounts and coupons. As my coupon came in the mail and was not given by a Support Specialist, I assumed this didn't apply to me. However, as I couldn't find any information concerning discounts or coupons, I tried following the instructions below, and it WORKED, applying a 20% discount to my order. What makes me so mad is that the place to click "I have a service code" was really hard to find, not offered at check out, and that there is misinformation in the help desk.

Thank you for this info. You are correct. The option to enter the service code (coupon code) is very hidden and difficult to find. I found it with the instructions on this post.

I got a coupon from turbotax.com telling me to go to turbotax.com giving me a 30% off discount code and then there was **bleep**ing nowhere to enter it.  I chose to pay my filing fees with my return, and at no point did the site ask me if I had any coupons.  I filed my taxes and now I'm not getting a **bleep**ing discount that the site itself sent me.  What the actual **bleep**?  I'm paying like $150 to file my taxes when it should be $100 because I have a 30% off code.  the site just keeps telling me about these **bleep**ing "service" codes. When was there ever a service code field?

When I wrote this answer originally, I didn't know that you had already asked for this info previously in another thread, I presume as you were trying to pay.   I've since revised a couple of sentences below, but you were likely emailed the original answer.    Please disregard that sentence in the original answer about it being easier to resolve prior to paying, since I see now that you did try to do so.

Sorry you had trouble.   This is mainly a user community forum, not a direct route to TurboTax Support, but I'll tell you below how to reach them to see if you can work out a resolution with them.   I don't know what they will say, but can't hurt to try.  If you have no success with TurboTax Support, I can also tell you how to file a complaint directly with Intuit Corporate if you don't get satisfaction.

"When was there ever a service code field?"

This is not TurboTax Support, so we don't know what you were actually sent or the nature of their promo offer.  You mention "discount code", "coupon", and "service code" in your paragraph.   I'm surprised they didn't provide any instructions with the discount you were sent.

If you were sent a service code (as opposed to a link to an affiliate's special discount microsite), then see this FAQ on where a service code would have normally been entered as you went through the fee screen.

FAQ:  Where do I enter my service code?

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/charges-and-fees/help/where-do-i-enter-my-service-code/00/26343

I don't have a way to view that screen, but since those instructions tell people to "scroll down", I suspect it's not normally seen if one doesn't know to scroll down, so it's not very intuitive.

In any case, unfortunately, there's no way to resolve your situation here in the user community forum.  Here's how to reach TurboTax Support:

Support hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific (8AM-12 Midnight Eastern), 7 days/week

I have a 30% discount code that was mailed to me and I want to use it.  But can't find a place for it unless I complete my taxes now.  Is there no way to use the code now and then complete my taxes at a latter date.  The code expires in 2 days

@JJ145 You can pay early before you file to lock in a discounted price.

How to pay,  use this FAQ on how to preview your return.  It will make you pay if you say you want to print now.

I still don't see it unless you say 'signing to your TurboTax' means the online version, NOT the desktop. If I go to the online version, my work from my desktop is not there, and I have found no way to bring it in. I have used TurboTax for 20 years or more, and this is quite frustrating. I have a service I want to use, but... I am afraid I cannot use it!

So, my question is, can I use the service code on my desktop?

@casmar Service codes are only issued by TurboTax support and are only used with the TurboTax online editions.

Since the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions have to be purchased to be used, unlike the online editions, there is no service code for the desktop editions.  There can be a discount for the desktop editions from TurboTax partners, but you would have to use the partner website and link to TurboTax for this type of purchase.

Where did you get the code that you are trying to enter and when did you get this code?
