I can't get TurboTax 2023 to install correctly. It gives me two errors. 1) The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. 2) The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. What do I need to do to resolve this. I have the latest Microsoft updates. I have turned off the router and computer and then restarted and downloaded again with the same result.
This is a new one, just showing up now....but, I also noticed that Microsoft has just issued a couple of new OS updates.
I wonder if this error is due to an individual having their Windows OS updates partially-installed, but not rebooted yet .
i.e. For anyone who encounters this, they may need to first make sure all their Windows updates are fully installed, and they have rebooted their computer. Then try the TTX installation.
I just got home with the Turbotax CD. It won't install because of the msvcp140.dll and vcruntime140.dll errors. I am up to date on all windows updates, computer restarted, turned off the antivirus, and it still shows the errors....running HP with Win 11.....Plan to raise as much of a stink as I can to get this figured out..come on T-Tax what gives?
I'm having the same errors trying to install 2023 TurboTax Premier. TTax keeps stating that TTax can't be installed because MSVCP140.dll and VCRUNTIME140.dll are not found. I've updated the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package as recommended on other websites, but it still doesn't work. I've spent several hours researching this problem and haven't found a solution. Intuit should troubleshoot this stuff and make sure it works before selling the software. VERY FRUSTRATING!!
For me, BOTH 32 and 64 bit versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable MUST be installed. See here to download the two zips and install. (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022)
Again, you need BOTH 32 and 64 bit versions installed side by side.
I did that ....a couple of times. I removed the Visual C++ and added back newer/older versions and then tried again.
NO LUCK! I have wasted days and money trying to reach out to online predators who help with driver downloads- no help there either.
This disc just does not want to load!
I take some comfort in the fact that I am not alone- but that still doesn't help with getting it ready to work with and we are now in the new year. Time to get going.

I get the same errors. Bought my cd from Amazon. I logged in to my intuit account. Added the key from my cd to my account. Downloaded the software package from intuit and installation went through successfully. Hope this helps you.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! That worked like a charm. You can't imagine how much time I wasted trying to get my desktop to open the CD....or perhaps you can- as you encountered the same issues.
Thanks again.....now to get down to work in getting the tax returns undeway.

Maybe this is a problem with the Costco setup program. I was getting the same errors. I noticed the post suggesting downloading directly from Intuit and entering the license code. I did that and the install worked.
I'm having the same errors trying to install 2023 TurboTax Deluxe. TTax keeps stating that TTax can't be installed because MSVCP140.dll and VCRUNTIME140.dll are not found.
.....yogibear8... What did you do to get it to work?? What worked like a charm? And how do you do it?
This should help:
im not sure if this will help you or if this is the actual answer/issue - we have onedrive setup to sync the infp on my laptop and the sync was paused... once I turned the sync back on, I had no problem installing the turbotax from disc.
Just tried installing today and kept getting error message about the missing .dll file. Tried re-booting. All MS updates have been installed. Never had this problem before and I've been using TurboTax for years.

I had a similar problem last year and wasted hours until finally got someone to help me fix it. If I remember correctly we modified the extension of a file to get it to run, changing it from '.dll' to '.dl' or vice versa. The TT program was downloaded onto my PC off a CD bought at Costco.
Had a new issue this year (using a CD purchased at Costco) TT Updater would not run on the program downloaded on my PC. Again wasted hours with the TT support but got nowhere. Ended up downloading the s/w from my online account using the license code from the disk. Moved the 2023TT.exe file over to my laptop and ran it including updates installed with no problems. Not sure why I had problems on my PC. Both are running fully updated versions of Windows 10.
Can’t get turbo tax deluxe download that I purchased to install on my windows 11 computer. Keep getting error message that the App I’m trying to install isn’t Microsoft verified.

2022 version loads in all win 10 computers, but TurboTax disc purchased from Sam's club tells me I am missing a driver. I then reloaded Win10 and still have issues. Then I built a new computer with the lates chip sets. Loaded Wn11 with all updates. Still, I am told I am missing the dll MSVCPI140dll. Now I have been using Turbo tax for I would bet over 10 years and do know what I am doing, I also have built the latest computers, so I actually have five computers in my office all working, with the latest loaded with Win11 on 01/31/2023 with all updates. The disc still will not load, and I still have the same error. This is terrible especially when I know what I am doing and am an Engineer by education, and profession. If I cannot get this to work, I would bet there are many with the same issue in this tax season. You should post a fix or update your software.
You likely need the 32 bit version of the dll from here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022
Less likely you need the 64 bit, but if the 32 bit doesn't work try that next.
Follow the directions to install, reboot, then try to install TT again.
I had the very same issue about the .dll file. Per someone else's suggestion, I downloaded the install version from the Intuit site and it had no problem installing.
If using Parallels Desktop on a Mac, you will need to isolate the Win10 system from the Mac system, in order to install TurboTax Advantage Business 2023 desktop CD (no Mac CD available, only Windows). Solution is to click the Parallels Windows 10 gear icon, Security, Isolate Windows from Mac. Sign out of Win 10 and sign back in. Installation will proceed normally within Windows 10.
