You may use your cell phone and internet for both business and personal use.

In such a case, you won't be restricted from deducting cell phone and internet expenses on
your tax return, under Communication, as long as it is primarily used for business.

Instead, you'll be able to deduct the
portion of your cell phone and internet expenses, that are tied to your business.
- For example, if your cell phone and internet is
used for your business 90 percent of the time, you can deduct 90 percent of
your expenses.
- The 10 percent you spend communicating with friends and
family is off limits.
- The cost of any apps and online tools you use to run your business, such as subscriptions to Adobe Creative Cloud, Evernote, or Dropbox can be claimed under Other Common Business Expenses>Other Miscellaneous Expenses
To enter your business expenses, like home office, vehicle mileage, supplies and other common business expenses:
- Type “Schedule C” in the Search box.
- Select the “Jump to” link.
- Select Add expenses for this work (or Edit and navigate down to Business Expenses).
Remember to enter 1099-MISC, 1099-K, cash, and personal check income from your self-employment before you associate any expenses with your business.
