2020 Stimulus

Should we be receiving another $1,100 in stimulus money for a child that was born in 2020?

2020 Stimulus

Yes. A newborn dependent qualifies for an $1,100 stimulus payment ($500 + $600).

Check your entries if the $1,100 is not showing up on Form 1040 line 30 as a Recovery Rebate Credit.

  • Click on Federal in the left-hand column
  • Click Federal Review on the top of the screen
  • On the next page titled Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click on Continue
  • Verify the amount of payments you entered for the first and second stimulus are what you actually received. They should be $500 and $600 less than the amount calculated by TurboTax.

Thank you for the response. I followed your prompts below and the amount TurboTax shows is what we received for myself, my husband and our daughter but we did not receive anything for our son who was born in 2020 after the payments were dispersed. Does he qualify for a stimulus payment since this was based on our 2019 tax return information?

Be sure to indicate that the child lived with you all of 2020 (which is okay for newborns).
