Change Business Code when filing taxes

Hello!

I have entered all the expenses and income for my business but the business code is wrong.  It is putting me in the wrong business code and service type.

I have searched everywhere trying to figure out why there is no edit button under business code and all the answers I see online are not helping me.

How do I change the business code number to the correct one I want?  This is becoming very frustrating.

What version are you using Online or Desktop ?  You can type business code into the search box at the top of your return and hit the return key. It should give you a Jump To link to take you right to it.

Then click on Jump to business code
Click on Edit or Review by your Business name
Click Edit by General Info at the top
Go down to Tax Details

Thanks for the quick response. I am using online, should I use desktop?

I followed your steps but there is still no area to edit by tax details, which is where the business code is or at the top of the section under work industry.

I can edit every other section besides under work industry and also under business code

Sorry I don't know the Online version and my  steps might be old.  Hopefully someone else will reply.

If you can get to to screen that shows the Business name to click on, Then click EDIT by the business name and the next screen should be a list of topics,
Business Profile, Income, Inventory/Cost of Goods Sold, Expenses, Assets, and Final Details last.

It should be under Profile

Yeah unfortunately I do not think it will work like that on the online version.  Every time I click through it just takes me back to the same screen and there is never an edit button by business code.

I may just need to download the desktop, probably better anyways so I can make sure everything is as detailed as possible.

When you entered what kind of work you do, TurboTax Online automatically added your business code to your tax return for you. If you left that question blank, you'll see a generic code: 999000.

You can try entering a different Work Description to see if you can trigger a better Business Code. Or just leave it blank.

This info doesn't affect your taxes, it's just something the IRS wants to know.
