We had an addition 11,000 added to our taxable income due to the USAA benefit of free tuition for college.  We heard that USAA is providing a way to offset this for employees effected.

Just to clarify - this $11000 was added to your income for the year, correct?  You would still be able to take any eligible education deductions to decrease the tax bill for that.  

 

As to what USAA is able to do to offset the taxes on your tuition reimbursement that would be a question for HR.
