EFile Transmission Error

I'm trying to e file my 2021 Federal and Rhode Island State tax. I'm getting the below message: "The Intuit Electronic Filing System is having difficulty recognizing the data in the return you are sending. Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available - Turbo Tax is not ready to process Tax Year 2021 for this return".

I thought efile opened on January 24, 2022. I've checked my software for updates as well. Are we not able to efile yet for tax year 2021?

Same here… Will their be an official date to be able to transmit 2021 returns soon without receiving error message transmission not available at this time?

    NC.

    NC.

    and @Mommy2112

Some NC forms (including the main Form D-400) are not yet finalized and available for efiling.   Projected availability date is 2/24/2022, according to the availability tables:

    State Forms Availability Table:
    https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/forms/help/state-forms-availability-table-for-turbotax-individual-...

If you wish, you can efile the Federal return now (if all your Fed forms are available) and efile the NC state return later.  To do that, you would need to temporarily change the filing method for the state return and tell TurboTax that you intend to "mail" the state return.  Then when the state forms are available you can switch the method back to efile.

If you need to check on Federal forms:

The problem is most likely the state.   I separated my FED from the state and it went thru.  I will just try the state again in a week or 2 but the FED part sent ok.

If you are referring to a North Carolina return, some NC forms (including the main Form D-400) are not yet finalized and available for efiling.   Projected availability date is 2/24/2022, according to the availability tables:

    State Forms Availability Table:
    https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/forms/help/state-forms-availability-table-for-turbotax-individual-...

As you experienced, those who wish to do so can efile the Federal return now (if all one's Fed forms are available) and efile the NC state return later. To do that, you would need to temporarily change the filing method for the state return and tell TurboTax that you intend to "mail" the state return. Then when the state forms are available you can switch the method back to efile.

@vsanchez232 I’m having the exact same problem. After waiting a couple weeks for my state form to come through proving I live in NC, I went to go file and it says the Tax Years 2021 transmissions are not available. What should I do in this scenario?!

Yup. Same error here in NC.."Tax Year 2021 transmission are not available." After I completed everything else, and got to submit.

I'm in North Carolina and am having the same exact issue. I was getting ready to get on the phone to someone to try to find out what's going on until I found that someone else had the same problem. Thanks for you post

I am having the same issue.  Not from RI but from North Carolina.  Error message is identical.  I have been able to e-file my federal separate from my state but e-file fails when attempting the state.  Have paid the $20.  Have tried a number of times over the last several days with no success.  Even when the issue is solved, I would expect a refund if for nothing more than the inconvenience that this error has caused.  Hopefully fixed soon!

I am having this same error when filing Federal and North Carolina taxes.  Is this an issue that is going to be resolved?

    @wmar9599

Do you have a large number of imported stock or cryptocurrency transactions on your return?  If so, refer to the following Help Article for assistance:  How do I file my return when I see the Transmission Trouble screen?

If the above does not pertain to you, it's possible that you have Federal or State forms included in your return that are not yet ready for e-filing.  Refer to the Help Articles below to check when forms will be available:

I want to report back that I was successfully able to transmit my NC state taxes about thirty minutes ago.  Here's hoping it is not an anomaly.

It could be due to some form not yet being available for efiling.  Here's one possibility:

Do you have a state return, and does it happen to be North Carolina by any chance?
