Bug Report: Form 5695 QMID validation error for Weil-McLain

I am trying to enter my energy-efficient boiler information on Form 5695. The software requires a "Qualified Manufacturer ID" (QMID). The official IRS-registered code for Weil-McLain is 46H2.

However, TurboTax is blocking the entry with a validation error stating the format must be "Letter-Number-Letter-Number." Because 46H2 starts with a number, the software will not allow me to proceed. This is a legitimate IRS code from the manufacturer's certification statement. How can I bypass this formatting rule to file my return accurately?

Or can Turbotax fix this on their end

I entered QMID I7Q6 and I received a validation error also.

Hopefully, a fix will be found in the near future.

Just went to my test online tax return and for the Home Energy Credits, entered QMID code I7O6 without any issues.  Received an energy credit

QMID code breakdown-

The letter capital I

The number 7

The letter capital O

The number 6

I use the desktop version.  Also, it is a Q and not a O.

Thanks for your help.

I just spoke to someone at Turbo Tax and after several trouble shooting tips we were not able to figure it out. He is reporting it to technical support.  And yes he dis mention other colleagues seemed to be experiencing it as well. He told me to try back in 24 hours.

I waited a bit before trying again , started from scratch and same problem. Will either try a new tax service or wait till the 14th and try again I guess

Have you received any response for a fix or update? I'm having the same issue

I'm having the same issue as Turbotax will not accept the QMID code for Weil McLain. The software updated yesterday and the issue persists. There is mention of a fix coming 02/13/2026 and hopefully it works.

So I just did a quick Google search and it looks like even HR Block is also having this issue.Guess were going to have to wait till the 13th.

Having same issue on Weil-McLain QMID code. The code per others and the Company is 46H2. Turbotax will not accept it saying it has to be Letter-Number-Letter-Number...but that is not correct. Can this bug please be fixed. Looks like it's been out there for 3 weeks.

Well it's 2:30 PM on the day that Intuit said a bug fix would be published. Nothing. Hopefully Intuit gets this fixed as it would be quite the shame if Intuit was targeted in a class-action lawsuit filed by 2025 Weil McLain buyers who couldn't get the $600.00 credit because of Intuit's negligence.

Are we sure its exclusively a Turbo Tax issue ,last time I checked it seemed HR block also was having this issues.

Anyone seen an update for this issue? I have been updating daily and still have the same error

I didn't use the desktop version but I was able to resubmit mine last week and it was accepted quickly.  I think someone on the desktop version did as well. You might try deleting your form and reentering it.  But I'm not positive it will work.

tried it out, didn't work. My hokey work around (for now), I put a qmid code from another manufacturer as a placeholder

I spoke with a Turbo Tax representative this morning and after going through all the standard checks she  preceded to tell me they are aware of the issue and still working on an update. An hour wasted to hear what I have already read online. No estimate as to when they will have an update

I am having the same issue with TT not accepting the Weil McLain 46H2 info, and have been waiting for weeks for this to be resolved.  Am quite disappointed about this.  It may be my last TT year after decades -this product has slowly deteriorated over the last few years.

When will this be fixed?

*Edit:  Meanwhile, while I was reading the posts and posting this, I received 10 emails congratulating me on getting badges and reading the posts, etc.  Are you kidding me?  Just fix the field please!!

Me too. About ten emails from Intuit about Gold Level Status, earning a badge etc. Wow. Wee. Wow wee. Fix the f***ing problem!

...one of my giant pet peeves is too many bells and whistles, not enough solid infrastructure. Badges? Emails with kudos?  No thank you.  Bug fix, bring it ASAP-it's overdue.

So, I have finished my taxes, paid TT to submit to my state, and now have refunds pending because of this field.  Would I be allowed to charge TT interest for every day that I do not get to file and get my refunds?
