I receive a scholarship from a foreign university as compensation for working in a research laboratory. Do I need to report this as foreign income?

    Yes, this needs to be reported on your return. To report.

     

    1. Go to Federal > Wages & Income.
    2. Scroll to the bottom to Less Common Income.
    3. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C > Start.
    4. Choose Other reportable income and click Yes.
    5. Description: Enter "Foreign Research Scholarship/Stipend" and the amount.
