Turbotax defaulting to standard deduction which is less than itemized

Turbotax desktop 2025. Form 1040. My itemized deductions are 26k. Line 12e on 1040 is showing 15750 (standard deduction for single person).

Itemized is mostly mortgage interest and property taxes.

Interestingly, NY form 201 is using the itemized deduction amount.

I spent an hour trying to debug this with the help of AI. Nothing.

BTW, I don’t owe any taxes that’s why im filing late. (Oct 15 2026 e-file deadline)

@burgerguy14 In forms mode, look at the Federal Information Worksheet. Scroll down to "Part VI Additional Information for Your Federal Return." Under "Standard Deduction/Itemized Deductions" make sure the that the third box is NOT checked. That box is labeled "Check this box to take the standard deduction even if less than itemized deductions."

Look at your Schedule A Line 17. What is the amount shown?

Click on Forms then locate the Schedule A on the left side of the Forms screen. Click on the form to open.
