For my education, I enrolled to get certified as an EMT through Emergency Care Programs. I paid the tuition and books out of pocket. Can I use this to get + Fed Refund?

Yes, you may be able to get some tax relief.

If the EMT certificate qualifies you for a new profession or position, you may qualify for the Lifetime Learning Credit. Click on Who is eligible for the Lifetime Learning Credit? To enter, click on How do I enter Form 1098-T?

If the EMT certificate is required to keep or maintain your current job, you may qualify to deduct this as Job-related expenses. Click on Can I deduct work-related education expenses? and Where do I enter job-related employee expenses? (Form 2106)
