Irs sent me a letter asking me to verify my identity after filing 2020 with $0 income but need the recovery rebate . Started the process online at irs site but then was stopped and told to call because they said the last 4 digits of the bank account I entered on my return didn't match their records. I entered my correct bank account number though? I choose to have the fees taken from my return to pay turbo tax? Could that be why? Does it go to their bank first and they are want the last 4 digits of their account? My account number is on the return I downloaded? Now I have to call them which will be a nightmare. Please help? I just want the 2 stimulus money I never received. My boyfriend did not claim me on 2020 taxes but did in 2019. I am now able to receive because no one claimed me . I'm on SSID and don't get much as it is

WAIT a second ... you had no income and you were only filing for the stimulus payment and you had to PAY a TT fee to do it !!!!!!! If so you were cheated since you should have been able to use the TT FREE version or any of the 10 IRS FREE FILE options.
Now to the issue at hand ... since you did use the refund processing service then you will have to use the account number of the temp account they set up to receive the refund. Look in your PDF for that information ... save it with the worksheets.
Wow! So that's what it is? That's why they didn't match up my actual bank account number. Now they won't let me use the online Identity verification system and kicks me off and tells me to call a 800 #. I wonder how easy that will be? They won't let me even try anymore. I with I would have known about them setting up a temp account. On my 2020 tax return I downloaded from turbo it shows my actual account number though? I'm 60 years old and not to good online. Now I'll probably get burned for this next stimulus because I won't have it fixed in time so they will go off of my boyfriend's 2019 return in which he claimed me . Thank you for valuable info
