How do I view my original 2017 tax return?

I filed my 2017 taxes with TurboTax, but did not download it. I now need it for student loans this year. From what I saw on my account:

"It looks like you need to pay first to instantly access your TurboTax returns. For instructions on how to access your returns, click help in the upper right hand corner of your screen and type “Prior Year Return” into the search box"

So I do the search and see this:

How do I print or download a copy of my 2017 or 2016 return?

2017 Return
You'll need to add and pay for PLUS benefits so you can access your 2017 return. (*Read both steps before proceeding*)

  1. Select Add a State (you might need to scroll down).
  2. When the new page loads, search again for 2017 tax return and follow the steps.

However, under the 2017 tab, I don't have the option to add another state. I did some searching which lead me to pay for and download the deluxe edition of 2017 TurboTax, figuring it could give me access to my already filed 2017 tax return. I cannot find a way to download this return, even after paying $85 for what I though would be access to my 2017 tax return.

So how can I download my 2017 tax return?

The ADD A STATE is on the 2018 home screen ... you have to open the 2018 program, pay for the 2018 upgrade to unlock all prior year returns in the account.

In TurboTax Free Edition, you can purchase PLUS to unlock your prior-year .tax file.

The exact instructions will vary depending on the status of your 2018 TurboTax Online return (select one):

To  avoid this issue next year:

Note:  Every year, before mid-October, print a copy of your current year tax return and save it as a tax file and pdf, too.  That way you will have it when you need it for school, a loan, next year’s tax return, etc. without going through a lot of aggravation (and expense)  to get it.
