You'll want to check your filing status to confirm. To check the status of your federal tax return go to Where's My Refund? at IRS.gov. It will say 'approved' if it is approved.

Or go to our e-file status lookup tool to get your current status (pending, accepted, or rejected).

Your status is also prominently displayed when you sign in to TurboTax Online or open your return in the CD/download version on your computer.

@hughestimothyw

This Turbo Tax FAQ will show you how to check your e-file status. You will also receive an email advising you of the return being accepted or rejected. If you opted in for text messages, you will receive that also.

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted?
Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.

You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "

Transmit my returns now

".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.
See this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Turbo Tax only knows if the IRS Accepts your return for processing or if it was rejected.  They won't know if you mailed your return.

If you used the Online version you can check your efile status here

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?

If your return was Accepted then check IRS Where's my refund

https://www.irs.gov/refunds/

No, checking to see if my "Mailed" 2020 FED taxes can Not tell me if my taxes were accepted by "check my refund" as it Only answers to "When do I get my refund" and as I have no refund it doesn't tell me if my taxes were accepted or not.

And you sent me my [removed code] code to my email address [email address removed] as my [phone number removed]nis a dumb phone that doesn't have texting.

Sorry Turbo Tax can't tell you anything about a mailed return.  The only way to know for sure it they got it is if you got a tracking number from the post office when you mailed it.  Since you don't have a refund did you have a tax due?  Did you mail a check?  Did they cash the check?   Or are they suppose to debit your bank account?  Or how did you pay it?

The IRS accepts all mailed returns.   If they have a question on it they will mail you a letter.

@don TurboTax never knows if the IRS received or accepted a tax return that you mailed in.    Only the user can mail a tax return by printing, signing and mailing it.   If you used a mailing service that tracks it like certified mail then you can know if it was received.   If you are not getting a refund then nothing is going to show up on the IRS refund site, ever.   Did you owe tax due?  If you owed tax then your proof that you paid will be your own bank or credit card statement.

Following up on your other post about California.  If you mailed federal you have to mail the state return too.  Did you mail CA separately to the CA FTB?

@tokelley1 When you mail your tax return they are not 'accepted" or "rejected" like e-filed tax returns.   The IRS will open the mail and process your mailed return.   But you will have to expect it to take longer.    When they finally open the mail and enter your return into the system you will be able to track it on the IRS site.

TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

@Sachmulaa

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

i filed taxes using intuit for 2021.   the IRS sent an email referring to 2020 land cited errors, denying the $1400 that was to be issued to me.   I had received various emails saying my return had been accepted (2021) .  Now when I look at  the information for the IRS, it continues to focus on 2020.   Why is that happening?  My return was done by Turbotax and I received emails saying it had been accepted.

Please tell me why the IRS referred to 2020 and not 2021.

The IRS sent email or a letter?  The IRS does not email.  They only mail letters.  If you got a letter what is the CP or LTR number at the top?  Where does it say 2020?  Did you file 2020, was it Accepted, did you get the 2020 refund?

If you got a email it might be a scam.

1400 is for the 3rd Stimulus payment for each person.  It is on 1040 line 30.   Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more.  The 1400 Stimulus payment came out last year starting in March 2021.  Did you get it?

If you claimed a missing stimulus payment on your return but the IRS took it off you have to ask the IRS. They think they already sent it to you.  Maybe it went to an account you don't remember. Or you got a check or a card. It was probably easy to miss the debit card in the mail and think it was junk mail. They have to put a trace on it.

Double check your bank statements and Check your IRS account to see when and what they sent you (check both spouse's accounts if married)

Only the IRS can tell you if they approve them.  If they don't approve it they will mail you a letter.  Did you efile?  Was it Accepted?  The IRS is taking longer this year so keep waiting, like 6 months of more.

If you used the Online version you can check your efile status here

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?

My refund has been sitting in pending status ever since the 13th I’ve tried to call but no one gives me a straight answer. How can I find out why it still says pending.

For more details about Pending returns, please see the Help Article here.  If you submitted before the IRS had begun accepting returns, it is processing along with the backlog of other returns.

Only you would know when you printed them out and mailed them.   Turbo Tax doesn't mail it for you.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail it.

How to mail a return from the Online version

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/printing/help/how-do-i-print-and-mail-my-return-in-turbotax-online/00/26258

Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.
