You can use this link to enter in any email addresses or phone numbers that may be associated with TurboTax

https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery/

You can also request a tax transcript using this link https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript to see if you filed last year.

If you filed with TurboTax Online, you can access your prior year return by following the steps in this TurboTax FAQ: How do I access a prior year return?

If you did not, you can request a transcript from the IRS, please see: How do I get a copy of my tax return or transcript from the IRS?

@Bf0501

For last year's refund, you will need to reach out to the IRS directly.  To get to a live agent, please see the below instructions:

To call the IRS: 800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Mon-Fri

  • Listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
  • Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
  • Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.

For your protection, your personal information was removed from your post. In this public forum, we do not have access to your personal account information and would not be able to confirm if your 2020 tax return was successfully filed. Please reach out to TurboTax Customer Support and speak directly with an agent. Support should be able to confirm which returns were electronically filed.

What is the TurboTax phone number?

@owenpet1012 Check to see if the IRS has a transcript of a tax return you filed.  And check your online account with the IRS.

You can get a free transcript from the IRS:

@owenpet1012 If you discover that you did not file, and still need to file, then you can use the CD/download to prepare returns for tax years 2019, 2020 or 2021 and mail the returns.  It is too late to e-file them.  They can only be filed by mail.  And you will have to get your documents like W-2's and/or 1099's together first.

Online preparation and e-filing for 2019 and 2020 and 2021 is permanently closed.

To file a return for a prior tax year

If you need to prepare a return for 2019, 2020 or 2021 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign,  and mail the return(s)

https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

You may also want to explore purchasing the software from various retailers such as Amazon, Costco, Best Buy, Walmart, Sam’s, etc.

Remember to prepare your state return as well—if you live in a state that has a state income tax.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Note:  The desktop software you need to prepare the prior year return must be installed/downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It cannot be used on a mobile device.

Question: trying to see if I filed taxes in 2022? I know I filed using TurboTax in 2021.

No one else can answer that.  Check to see if you have a 2022 return in a TurboTax account, or check to see if the IRS has a transcript showing that you filed a 2022 return.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

If you are getting a refund, there is not a penalty for filing past the deadline.  If you owe taxes, the interest/penalties will be calculated by the IRS based on how much you owe and when they receive your return and payment. The IRS will bill you for this; it will not be calculated by TurboTax.
