Once your returns have been accepted, the IRS states that nine out of 10 e-filed tax returns with direct deposit will be processed within 21 days of IRS e-file acceptance. Mailed paper returns: If you filed a paper return, please allow 4 weeks before checking the status. Refund processing time is 6 to 8 weeks from the date the IRS receives your tax return.
The IRS expects the earliest EITC/ACTC related refunds to be available in taxpayer bank accounts or debit cards starting February 27, 2020, if these taxpayers chose direct deposit and there are no other issues with their tax return.

I got email from intuit saying my return is accepted. But when checked in turbotax software, the e-file status says that the return is not e-filed yet. why is this happening?
@sentaru You are probably looking in the wrong account. If you got email from TurboTax that says your return was accepted, then that has not changed. But you will not find any updated information on the TurboTax site regarding when the IRS will send your refund. TurboTax does not get any updates from the IRS after you file your return.
Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait. It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns. Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.
