If you are on www.irs.gov/refunds and you see a date there for deposit or mailing of your return, then yes, that is the day it is suppose to be released. If you are getting direct deposit the IRS says please wait 5 days after we’ve sent the refund to check with your bank about your refund, since banks vary in how and when they credit funds.

The IRS.gov/refunds

Okay, then that is the day the check should be mailed. After that I really can't give you a timeline because it depends on how long the post office takes to deliver it. I would give at least 10 days from the mailing date.

But it said before that date?

Usually they will say on or before "X" date, but if they now say on that date, then it will be that date. Best case would be you get it earlier. If not expect it to come 5-10 days after the posted mailing date.

My return accepted date keeps changing. Some days it says 1/21 some days it says 1/29. How do i find out which date is accurate?

The dates will probably continue to change according to the IRS's ability to complete the processing of returns. All you can really do at this point is check daily with the IRS's  https://www.irs.gov/refunds/

If it says it will be sent to bank by a certain date, does that mean before that date or on that date. The way it says by that certsin dae makes one believe it will be before that date

If you received a specific date from the IRS Where's My Refund site, then that is the date the IRS will send your refund by whichever method you selected to receive your refund.

Please see the TurboTax FAQ: When will I get my IRS tax refund? for more information.

The IRS website says I will get my refund by Feb 26th. Even though it's been well over 21 days. This year was first time I've ever used turbo tax. And I'm disappointed I still don't have my refund. I never waited so long for refund when I went through H&R Block. Not sure I will use turbo tax next year just seems to take way too long to get refund.

That’s because of tax hikes. Refunds will be issued after the 15 because of Federal regulations to decrease in fraudulent activity. From my experience when they give you a date where it’s says by or on that date you will most likely get the return before or on that date. If you mailed then it will take 5 business days to receive if not problems occur.

1/29 is most likely accurate as far as filing date. IRS didn’t start accepting returns until 1/27.

My return was accepted on Jan. 27th which the day I filed. And yet several people I know who filed after I did have already received their refund.

It's not a check it's direct deposit and I called the IRS and there was no problems with my tax return.

Even though the IRS issues 9 out of 10 tax refunds within 21 days, it's possible your return may require additional review and take longer to process. For some taxpayers, PATH Act requirements and other identity-protection safeguards implemented by the IRS may account for longer wait times.

Other things that can delay your refund include, but are not limited to:

  • Liens, back taxes, or refund offsets
  • Errors, inconsistencies, or missing information
  • Identity fraud
  • Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, which can take 11-14 weeks to process
  • Also, if you chose direct deposit, your financial institution may need another day or two to post the refund to your account, so keep that in mind.

I fully agree with you. I used turbo tax this year as well, i filed them the 13th. Turbo tax says they were received the 14th. Today is march 7th, and the just said this morning they were accepted. I filed mine a week before my husband brother who also claimed ctc and he got his in a week and a half. It has been 3 weeks and mine just got approved. My refund date is next week. So basically i get our taxes in 4 weeks with turbo tax. I have always got mine in no longer then 2 weeks.

It's common for a return to be pending for up to 3 weeks. Most tax returns fall into this timeframe. This timeframe is unrelated to how, where, or when you filed and isn't connected to how quickly you got your refund last year.

When will I receive my refund?

That is the date the IRS intends to mail the check to you. You can expect to receive it within 5-10 business days after that date.

@Lcunningham18  If you are referring to the date that TurboTax gave you---no.   That was only an estimate--not a promise or guarantee.   Only the IRS knows when you will get your refund.  You need to track it on the IRS site.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1899433-how-do-i-track-my-state-refund

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901548-why-do-some-refunds-take-longer-than-others

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

Ok the IRS says my refund will be in my bank by let’s say March 2, 2022.
Does this mean my money (refund) will be in my bank account on March 2 2022?
