CRITICAL NOTICE: Issue with your 2019 tax return Email

So I got this email today and I am a tad bit confused. When I log into my Turbotax,it says my return was accepted 01/27/2020.I added the body of the email at the bottom of this post. For one,I don't have the, "Take me to my return" button because I have already filed. The part that makes me nervous is where it says the have cancelled my e-file submission to the IRS,but if that is true then why does it say accepted?

Dear Valued TurboTax Customer,

At TurboTax, we are committed to helping you get your maximum refund through ensuring your return is filed with 100% accuracy. Unfortunately, we were recently notified of an issue which affects the accuracy of your 2019 tax return. When you imported your W-2 form, missing or incomplete data was transferred by UltiPro, your employer's W-2 payroll provider, into your 2019 tax return.

To prevent you from filing an inaccurate tax return with the IRS, we have cancelled your e-file submission to the IRS. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience but are here to help you. You will need to resubmit your e-filed return before the filing deadline on April 15, 2020. We have outlined instructions to follow below.

Please take the following actions to correct your return or contact us and we will guide you through the steps:
To ensure your 2019 TurboTax return is accurate, please delete ALL your W-2s and then re-import them into your return. To do that on your computer, please take the following steps (click here for mobile web instructions:(
  • Login to your TurboTax Online Account
  • Select Take me to my return
  • Select Federal from the left pane
  • Click Edit/Add next to Job (W-2)
  • Click the trash can icon to remove W-2 entry
  • Answer Yes to the question Are you sure you want to delete this W-2?
  • Repeat this process to delete all of your W-2s
  • Click the Add a W-2 button
  • Enter the EIN, select Continue
  • Click Import is enabled, proceed with the import, and confirm the accuracy of the important data.
  • If import is disabled, you will be prompted to manually enter your W-2.
  • Repeat the above steps for all of your W-2s
  • When you're done entering all of your W-2s, proceed to re-file your return. From the left menu, select File and follow the instructions to resubmit your return.

If you have additional questions or would like to speak with one of our support specialists during this process, please call us at [phone number removed] and mention "W-2 Data Import Issue."

Sincerely,
Sarah Kim

The same thing happened to me!

I got this same email around 6:30 pm last night, and then another email around 10 pm saying that my federal tax return has been accepted.  My state tax return changed to pending about 10 minutes ago.

So, obviously my e-file was not cancelled, and the option to delete anything is not there.  A bit concerning

I called [phone number removed] and they looked into my Return and said nothing was cancelled and it shows it was accepted.Monday morning I got an email saying it was rejected and I needed to fix something, after I logged back in I found it was the format for the date I was issued my DL was incorrect.I changed that and sent it again and then a few hours later I got an email saying it was accepted and my status still shows accepted. She said maybe the email was sent late and before it was accepted.I just keep logging back into TurboTax and checking to make sure it still says accepted.

Plus I heard from someone else that I should pull up my return and look through it and make sure every detail is correct and if it is,then perhaps the email was sent in error.

Your information on how to cure the was useless. I login and there no way to access my federal return.

I think at this point I would like you to delete all my information and refund my fee. And I will try another app.

signed thoroughly frustrated.

Still can't figure this out, the instructions say to do things that don't even exist... It still appears as accepted, but the email said my return was cancelled. What in the actual hell...?

If you can't see the buttons the email told you to click on,then its because your return was already accepted. At least thats what i was told.I spent an hour on the phone today with TurboTax and I was reassured that my return has been accepted and no further action is needed.Regardless of what the emails says.

Same issue.   Pretty sure this is a scam.  No matching links, return says its been accepted and when I compare this email to other Turbotax emails, the font is completely different.  I wouldn't change anything.

Apparently, based on info from TurboTax Moderators, this IS a legitimate email.   Please see the info linked below for instructions on proceeding.

How can I fix my W-2 import issue?

Thank you for your patience.

I got the same email but when I went to my TurboTax it still said both of mine are accepted as well. It’s really irritating because now I feel like I have to wait to see if I get a return or not. If it comes ends up coming back I’m going to do my taxes else where.

I had gotten the same email the other day but my taxes were received by both federal and state. I already got my state refund check back.

I received a similar email. I have tried calling turbo tax. Apparently you have to pay to talk to a live person?
