Can I amend only the 2020 state return? It was accepted. Every time I try it tells me that the federal return cannot be amended yet because the 1040X is not ready.

It says that the MI amended form, MI5530 Amended Return Explanation of Changes, is currently available in Paper Print and E-file status

 

When filing an amended return, you must show the change in amounts on the specific lines of the form, as well as the reason(s) for amending the return.
