2025 1040X not Visible when Printing Amended File, Why?

I am using Windows Desktop Version of Home and Business.

I have been using Turbo Tax since 2004.

I did click on Amend a Filed Return (Refile a Return That Has Been Accepted by the IRS).

The process was simple.  The printed product makes it confusing because the cover sheet in the second block

says,

" Your amended tax return - Form 1040-X. Remember to sign and date the return.
Be sure to attach all forms or schedules that changed to your amended return."

BUT

The first viewable page is a1040-SR, not a 1040X.

Above that page there are 2 blank pages.

Could it be that is where the 1040X is supposed to be and the program has a bug or has not been updated?

That is the only sense I can make out of this.  Need a Turbo Tax tech employee to look at this and provide an answer, PLEASE.

Thanks

Thank you for the quick response, but you totally answered the wrong question.  I thought I had attached my email to a string with the same problem, which is why my stated problem was brief.  If it didn't work that way, then I apology.

The problem I and others are having is after we complete making a 1040X in TurboTax and go to print it, the page is blank.  Not just a blank form, but a white screen with nothing on kind of blank.

It isn't a PDF problem.  We have all tried that and deleting cache, etc.

Intuit Turbotax support team,

Here is what I did to reproduce the issue with blank 1040X on amended return.  I am using TurboTax desktop 2025 on WIndows 11 OS.  The default PDF viewer in Windows 11 is Microsoft Edge.  I am able to successfully view pdf files from all applications, TurboxTax pdf files from previous years and my original 2025 tax year return using the default PDF viewer in Windows 11 is Microsoft Edge.  When doing an amended return the 1040X pages are blank when viewing the PDF with the default PDF viewer (all other pages within the return PDF file are visible).  I then downloaded free adobe acrobat reader and installed it, the 1040x pages are then visible for that same pdf file (it did pop up a message that "the PDF file file has errors, contact the the creator of the PDF file to correct the problem", fixing this issue may allow the default pdf viewer to work ).  I then uninstalled adobe acrobat reader and again the 1040x pages were blank.  So if intuit support\software developers want to reproduce the problem, try uninstalling adobe acrobat reader and you will likely see blank pages where 1040x will be when trying to do an amended return.

I am having the exact same problem  I went through the amend process and when I look at the file, there is no 1040-X form, only the 1040.  This needs to be fixed by Intuit.

Same thing.  Seems nothing works in TurboTax.  Never experienced so much pain in one tax year.  Desktop version.  Amended return, says to print 1040x, and guess what, nothing but blank pages where I'm guessing they are supposed to be generated.  On hold now for support 10-15 minute wait.  We'll see if that is accurate.

Update.  Spoke with customer support rep.  Was told that the 1040x should be there (duh!).  When opening the .pdf form, two pages where the 1040x are supposed to be are blank.  She had me just continue and efile not attempting to resolve why it didn't generate the form as it is supposed to.  I submitted both the fed and state which she said I can do, although the instructions say I must print and send.  Upon final e-file, I saved a copy of the amended return, and the 1040x pages are blank.  So much for customer support.  Problem is not resolved, but I'm hoping my amended return was sent properly.  Who knows.

Are you still having this issue?

If you are using desktop software you may need to do a manual update. Try clearing your Cache and Cookies and then try this link instructions.

If you are using the online software, Clear Cache and Cookies.

I cleared the cache and cookies and performed the manual update.  I am still getting the same outcome.  The amendment shows my 1040-SR and there is no 1040-X

This is because of the Adobe Acrobat software needed for the PDF. You will need to download a free software (like Adobe Acrobat) so you can see the pdf.

Using TurboTax 2025 Deluxe.

I had this exact same issue today, March 28, 2026. I had to file two amended federal returns, one for me and one for my daughter. Neither PDF included Form 1040-X. Instead, there were two blank pages before the revised 1040. I these blank pages were the Form 1040-X.

To get a copy of the 1040-X, I went to the print section of TurboTax and used the "Specific Forms", "Form Only" and checked the box next to Form 1040-X.  I tried saving a PDF of it, but again it didn't show. Next I tried printing it, and although the print preview didn't show it, when I clicked on the printer button in the upper right corner, it brought up the normal print preview screen for my printer, and it showed the 1040-X. I was able to print it, then scan it in order to save it as a PDF file.

A lot to go through when it should have been an easy task to perform directly from TurboTax.

I am having the same problem trying to amend an accepted 2025 file.  Blank pages, only

SAME PROBLEM but also the amount calculated is incorrect for the additional tax.

PLEASE STOP telling people trivial delay tactic recommendations. (Clear Cache and Cookies, etc. etc.)

Something is severely broken in the desktop software at least for Amended Returns.

Mine shows a large tax already owed from the start (instead of going to zero as it should and is stated it would.)

I also don't get a 1040X in the printout but rather just a copy of the original filed return. But the bigger problem is the math doesn't work for the delta tax amount.

I have been using TurboTax for over 25 years and it isn't my first time filing amended returns either.  I am a software engineer myself, so I am disappointed in the Tech Support delay tactics to avoid admission of obvious bugs.

The only acceptable answer is estimate of when the bug will be fixed and will the software automatically adjust or we need to re-enter the changes.

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Online:

  1. Sign into your online account.
  2. Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
  3. A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
  4. On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
  5. This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
  6. Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent” *
  3. This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created.  Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
  4. Please provide the Token Number  (including the dash) that was generated in the response.

*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)

Good morning LeticaF1,

I am using the desktop version of TT.

I am in the process of amending my 2025 Form 1040.

Using microsoft edge brower I have similarly experienced finding BLANK pages where the Form 1040x is suppose to be.

If I using a "firefox brower" or "adobe" then I can visually see the two completed pdf pages where the Form 1040x  is suppose to be.

My question is - what about the IRS, if they use microsoft edge then they will observe two white pages instead of the From 1040x.

Should I trust that if I eFile my Form 1040x to the IRS that they will have no trouble seeing the 1040x?

Or am I forced to print and mail the package to the IRS?

cheers,

george

I just had a customer change their default browser to firefox and the pdf is visible for them now.

Good suggestion, thank you.  But it would be "nice" if we didn't have to do work arounds.

Turbo Tax should make their product more compatible with Microsoft's browser, Edge, used by millions if not billions of people.

Adobe Acrobat is a pain and I prefer not using it. They are constantly trying to get you to sign up for a paid version.

What happened to just getting a simple Adobe Reader?

I now feel so much better knowing MANY others had my issue. Turbo Tax you need to a better remedy than just download Adobe.

Thanks.

It happened to me on my new laptop. Once I downloaded Adobe Acrobat, I was then able to see my amended 1040x form and print it. There's an adobe link just above the buttons where you print/save it.

Yes that worked, however, I then got an error message  "An error exists on this page.  Acrobat may not display the page correctly....  But, this is progress.  The error doesn't seem to cause any real issues.  Thank you for the suggestion.

I am having the same issue with turbotax desktop 2025.   When using the preview window, the pages are blank for the 1040-X.  Selecting the 1040-X via pdf's the table of contents brings me to blank pages.

However, I do see the pages when I go to print them.  And they do print just fine.

As of 6/5/2026, PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED.  Can see 1040-X in Adobe, but not in EDGE.  There is no reason Intuit can't fix this so that users are not totally confused if they happen to be using the Edge browser as their default PDF viewer!
