Where do I enter my bank's routing or account number?

Note: If your TurboTax navigation looks different from what’s described here, learn more.

If you're getting a refund, we'll ask for your bank account info once you select the direct deposit option (it's on the How would you like to receive your federal refund? screen in the File section).

If you owe additional taxes to the IRS and you're e-filing, enter your bank account info on the How would you like to pay your federal taxes? screen (select the first option, direct debit). Direct debit isn't an option for paper-filed federal returns.

To review previously entered bank account info, ‌revisit the File section in TurboTax.

If you are receiving an error message, follow these steps to resolve your issue:

  • Go back to Finish & File and select direct deposit.

  • Delete the entered routing number by holding down backspace.

  • Manually type the routing number. This should resolve your issue.
