How do I fix reject code R0000-906-02?

SOLVEDby TurboTax142Updated 3 weeks ago

If you receive e-file reject code R0000-906-02, the IRS has rejected your federal tax return because your bank’s transit number or their routing number appears invalid. You will need to verify the bank routing number and your checking or savings account number against the numbers you have entered in your return.

To verify your bank info, or to correct it in TurboTax, follow these instructions.

The best place to verify the account info is by looking at one of your checks or by contacting your financial institution. You may also search the web for your bank’s routing number.

A valid bank routing number has nine digits. The first two digits will be 01 through 12, or 21 through 32.

Your bank account number will include:

  • Alphanumeric characters (numbers, letters, and hyphens)
  • Less than 18 characters
  • Not all zeros

Note: If your TurboTax navigation looks different from what’s described here, learn more.

  1. Sign into your TurboTax account.
  2. Select Fix my return, or go to the File section.
  3. Continue until you reach the bank information screen.
  4. After reviewing this info and making any necessary changes, resubmit your return electronically.
  5. If your return is still rejected, you'll need to print and file your return by mail.
