Why did I get charged 80$ for a 40$ package

Free Edition is for simple returns that file a 1040 with no additional schedules, and is free as long as you don't select any add-ons or upgrades.

Review your fees to find out why you're being charged. Then, follow the directions to remove any unwanted charge:

• Remove PLUS Help & Support
• Remove Pay With Your Refund
• Remove Premium Services Benefits
• Remove MAX Defend & Restore
• Remove a state
• Clear and start over to remove all fees and start from scratch.

It's ridiculous. You need to read the agreements carefully. They figure people will be getting lots of money back and feel rich, so the charges wont matter. WRONG!! I was charged 40 for deluxe and 40 to have it taken out of my refund. NO WAY!! I quickly hit the back button.

Here are the steps to view your fees, while in TurboTax follow these steps:

• Select My TurboTax in the top-left corner,
• Select My Tax Timeline,
• Scroll to the bottom and select Some things you can do,
• Select Add a state (you will not actually add a state, this is just a way to get you back into the return without amending it),
• Select View order summary  under We can also help you with to see a breakdown of fees.
