Why am I not eligible to get the Free Federal return. I am a single return with only 1 deduction and Turbo Tax wants to charge me for federal and state.

I just want to do my federal return online and Mail in my State return. I am not getting any refund this year.

What is not listed as free is not free!

Meet the qualifications and it is free.

You are posting your question from a paid version (online "Live Basic") of the software.  When you use a paid version you pay separate fees for federal and state.  Your fee for the state is the same whether you e-file it or mail it in an envelope. The fee is not for e-filing---it is for using the software---and in your case--for using "Live" tax expert help.

How can I see my TurboTax  fees?

If your TurboTax fees are higher than expected, you can reduce them by removing add-ons     (BEFORE you e-file) :

Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free.  There are 8  free software versions available from the IRS Free File site

Or—if you live in certain states you may be eligible to use the new IRS Direct File
