WHERE can i get five-digit Self-Select PIN as first time filing tax online (mailed in tax last year as newcomer in USA),

First time file tax online (mailed in tax forms last year as newcomer in USA), WHERE can i get five-digit Self-Select PIN?

I got rejected a few times trying to e file thru turbotax, the tax forms are all filled correctly because I passed all warnings and smart check. The rejected code is 'IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records.'

Double checked AGI of last year at IRS website, the amount filled is absolutely correct. I created my own five digit self select PIN because i never had the code before. (it's my first time e file online, last year mailed in my tax file as a newcomer in USA).

Can anyone help with this? Many thanks.

in step-by-step / interview mode you get to a screen where there's a message to sign your return

5 digit - efiling pin - enter any five digits you want except all 0's

date of birth - should be prefilled

todays' date - should be prefilled

continue on to e-file

@Mkesick

The Self-Select PIN is something that you create.  For more details on this, please see the Help Article here.

I am e-filing my 2021 return for the first time. I got a rejection notice saying "IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records." I know my last year's AGI (2020) is correct (copied from the 2020 return). I entered a five-digit pin (a randomly picked number as instructed on TurboTax for the first time this year). What should I do now?  Please help!!!

You can make sure you are entering the AGI the IRS has recorded for you by requesting a transcript on the IRS Get Transcript site. Although you do not have to pay for this service, you will need to create an account with the IRS, which is free to do.

Since you don't have self select PIN from last year, you can create a new one when you are ready to electronically sign your tax return.
