You can view or print your "TurboTax Electronic Filing Instructions" as follows:

For TurboTax Online:

  1. Open your return
  2. Select Tax Tools then Print Center
  3. Select Print, save or preview this year's return
  4. Check the boxes to indicate your federal and state returns
  5. Choose to include Government and TurboTax Worksheets
  6. Click on "View or Print Forms"
  7. Your E-Filing Instruction Sheet should be the first page

For TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Switch to Forms Mode by clicking on "Forms" in the blue bar at the top right of your screen
  2. In your left panel scroll down to the bottom of your list of forms and
  3. Select "Filing Inst page 1 and 2"

I've tried this several times and it simply does not work (at this time, it has worked for me in prior years). All typical tax worksheets are included but the TurboTax summary and electronic filling instruction forms are simply not there.

Same here. I've had it in years past, and it's very handy when needing to find my AGI for the previous year when e-filing. I would really like to see the "Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2024 Federal Tax Return", which shows the 2024 Federal Tax Return Summary.

The Electronic Filing Instructions are NOT included in the full download.

It wasn't/isn't included in ANY download.

The page says "The specific issue you’re looking for has been fixed and the article you’re trying to access is no longer available. " Unfortunately, the issue hasn't been fixed as of Feb 23, 2025.

I tested both Safari and Google Chrome on my mac (Ventura 13.7.4) and the instruction and summary page was not included in the PDF. Do you know how to (re-)escalate the issue?

@sfgigi

I'm starting to think these "high level" posters are bots. They continue to post the same advice despite several threads that report this method is NOT working for many people this year.

This is a known problem and it was estimated to be corrected on 02/22/2025.  That date came and went without a correction.  Spoke with a TurboTax Moderator of this forum and they said it was a known issue but the development team would not provide a fixed date for correction.

My thought is to see if the correction happens on 02/27/2025 since Thursdays are the usual day that the developers will have a software release.

I'm looking for them too.  They are very handy and have been there for years prior to now.

The above does not solve the problem on my on-line Turbotax as of 2;00PM PST on 02/23/2025!

Using the TurboTax online editions the Filing Instructions page is not currently available.  This is a known problem and is being worked on to fix.  Unfortunately we do not have a firm date when this will be fixed.

Suggest try again on next Thursday, 02/27/2025, when the software updates are normally released.

Still no electronic filing instructions pages for 2024 returns as of March 1, 2025

@DoninGA

It's March 1, 2025. The bug is not fixed yet. @DoninGA said it's a known issue, but there is no tracking info. Could  you re-escalate the issue as "not fixed" so that it is tracked properly? Thanks.

An hour later, the summary and filing instructions showed up!! Yay!

Thank you for fixing the bug.

is this not available once I've submitted my taxes? I can no longer access anything but a download of my taxes, which does not allow my to choose any options.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2024 online tax return.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.  Then click on Print Center.  Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return.  Choose the option Include government and TurboTax worksheets

@DoninGA This worked! Not sure why it would only be an option in this convoluted way of printing, but thank you for sharing!

It seems there is some confusion between TurboTax Online and the TurboTax desktop app on the Mac. I'm using the TurboTax application on a Mac and I still can't get the Electronic Filing Instructions for your Federal Tax Return. As people have stated, this is a very nice summary of one's tax situation, including how much is due on one's taxes and the estimated tax payments to make. The equivalent cover letter for the CA State taxes is available, but not the one for the Fed.

@DSchorow1  Did you switch to Forms Mode and look for it in the left column?

Yes I did. I do not see it there.

OK, here's the strange thing. I used TurboTax Desktop Mac to do my own taxes, and when I printed them out to PDF (all 293 pages), that page that I think of as the Cover letter did appear. For my own taxes, I did not file them using TurboTax, since I use TurboTax to compare to the taxes prepared by my tax preparer. When printed out, that cover letter is titled "File by Mail Instructions for your 2024 Federal Tax Return".

I also did my mom's taxes. For her, we completed the whole process with TurboTax Desktop Mac and electronically filed both the Federal and CA state taxes. For her taxes when printed out, no such cover letter came out for the Fed, though there was a cover letter for the CA state taxes.

In neither case, did I find that cover letter listed in the left column after switching to Forms Mode.

Thank you. This was incredibly non-intuitive, and I appreciate your advice. Worked easily once I was able to get back to the 2024 tax return

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and always keep these Electronic Filing instructions, not for the instructions but for the Federal Tax Return summary which is very summary.

I remember this being an issue last year as well. I eventually got it but it required another awkward workaround. I hope Turbo Tax realizes how many people want that form and makes this easier going forward.
