turbotax 2022 asking for keychain item that does not exists

I just installed mac version 2022 turbotax.   After i start the software, whenever i try to save the return (actually when place my cursor over the "file" menu, turbotax immediately asks:  "TurboTax 2022 wants to use your confidential information stored in "Intuit ID (prdatnresHRieeTUFcJ&VGY6C9CtCtxwUReAYo36-5)" in you keychain. The "file" options never appear.  I do not have this keychain item in my password, i checked.,  My 2021 turbotax works fine.  Bascially this software is bricked, cannot use it.   I tried every password tied to turbotax files, inuit logins etc. even my system passwords.   Any ideas?

Hi thanks for your reply.  This is different- I don’t even get to start my tax file- so does not appear to be file protection issue.  When I start TurboTax the system immediately issues the “TurboTax wants access to confidential info….”.  I have all my file passwords none of them work.  I also opened my keychain and only have one intuit entry. This does not work either.  The request pops up when I hover over the “File” menu - never get to see any file options.  I even gave TurboTax full disk access.

After some additional research, i did find the keychain, entry, and its definitely my problem.  The keychain entry was corrupted (it would not accept my system login), so i could not get the password, but was able to add 2022 to the entry.    Sorry for the post, did not want to waste others time.

One last item, I did want to have a clean start with turbotax (i.e. not rely on that keychain entry associated with 2021 mac turbotax.  I cleaned every plist, com file, binaries and app file associated with the 2022 install. but each time i reinstalled 2022 it was locked to that that keychain record.

This is a MAC thing ... ask them if it can be removed.

TurboTax likely created a keychain entry for your 2021 tax return and your Mac is associating the 2022 file to that key chain.  Normally you should be able to use your Mac system login to get past that issue and all will be good. For me that did not work.  If that’s the case, You need to open you max keychain.app, it’s a system app.  Use your Mac login to open the keychain. Search for that exact keychain entry.  Normally you can expose the password for that entry. For me that did not work. What I was able to do is add 2022 TurboTax to use that keychain entry and “fixed” the issue for me.

The following steps (which were recommended by someone else in another post) seem to have solved this issue: (a) Restart the computer; (b) Start Turbotax and, when it asks for a keychain password, enter your computer screensaver or login password and click "always allow".

I am SO frustrated.  I'm having this same exact issue, but still unable to get past the Keychain password, even following the steps you suggested above.  It's a brand-new installation of 2022 Turbo-tax.  I've used Turbo-tax for years and have never used Keychain to store my passwords for it.  Why is 2022 now requiring Keychain when it never has before?  Also tried the suggestion of using my normal Mac sign on password, but that one doesn't work either.  Reboot also didn't resolve my issue.

Not quite sure how, but I got it to work!!  Intuit, you need to address this issue before everyone starts trying to do their taxes this year!!

The program is always glitchy the first month but with all you eager beavers using the beta version you expose the issues that need to be worked on ... patience while they exterminate the bugs.

Thank you.  I had actually found and followed these instructions, but they didn't work.

Hello,

I am having so much difficulty having my keychain password work for 2022. Can you explain what you meant when you said "was able to add 2022 to the entry"?

I am at a total loss on how to get the software to work now.

Thank You.

Barb.

This worked for me as well.  Adding the TurboTax 2022 app to the key chain entry fixed things.  This is not an acceptable solution though.  Most users do not want to be manually updating Key Chain entries.

This remains a problem.  Intuit still has not fixed it.  The help desk was not much help.

In the popup dialog box in TurboTax asking for keychain access, there's a small circle with an "i" in it in the lower left.  If you click on that it will open a box for MAC users that will give instructions on how to solve this issue.  I was not able to get any help from TurboTax support that explained how to solve the "keychain request" popup that was blocking my use of TurboTax, but this appears have solved the problem.

How did you get this to work do you remember at all?   I have been trying for weeks.   I've already bought another version of turbo tax business 2022, deleted the app from the first purchase, then re-installed I'm at wits end.    Any help is appreciated.   I cannot find any p/w in my keychain that they are referring to.   ***sigh

I do not use keychain and have no password for it.   Eventually, I tried the password for opening my computer and that password worked. I then did something to take TurboTax out of keychain.  All is good now but it was strange and difficult getting it to work.  I hope this might help.
