Transfer 2020 Premier information into 2021 Home and Business?

I'm needing to know whether I can transfer my 2020 tax information from the TT Premier version into a 2021 TT Home and Business version.

Yes you can do that with no problem.    It's fine to change which version of the software you used---here is a FAQ about transferring prior year tax file the new return----but they have not updated the years in it so ignore the years it mentions and just follow the directions---are you transferring from  desktop version to desktop version, desktop to online, or online to desktop?

And actually All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.  So you could even buy Deluxe.

All you need to transfer from the prior year is to have the file ending in .tax2020 on your computer.   It should be in your Documents in a Turbo Tax folder on Windows.   Or did you use a Mac or the Online version last year?

Thank you for replies @xmasbaby0 and @VolvoGirl

Desktop to Desktop & Windows 10 to Windows 10.

I was thinking there was something in Home and Business I needed.   But now I'm thinking Premier would be fine.  I do have investments and stocks.

Thank you for clarifying that I am not limited to keeping the versions the same.  I had always used H&B until last year when I bought Premier.  Now I'm thinking I will go back to H&B.  I wish I had a good reason for doing so.  🙂

This issue can be related to using a PDF file instead of the .tax file. Please make sure you are transferring the .tax file. Here is an article for assistance with transferring your files.
