The solution everywhere in previous years about it asking for farm income when you don’t have a farm doesn’t work. That solution says delete Form F and its worksheet. I do that, even though Form F is not in "My Forms" and nothing has been entered there. But I am still asked about my 1099-NEC for my independent contractor business, for which I’ve already entered the code completely unrelated to farming. The question asked is “Did you receive income for this farm reported to you on Form 1099-NEC?”
“Did you receive income for this farm reported to you on Form 1099-NEC?” is a standard question in the Form 1099-NEC section even if you entered an activity totally unrelated to farming.
Select “None of these apply to me” on the screen Does one of these uncommon situations apply? Then Continue.
You do not have to delete Schedule F. If you previously went to Delete a Form and did not see a Schedule F it means TurboTax never set up a farm for you.

Solved. Thank you. I simply continued, entered my info, and it didn’t again ask me about farming. Your instructions to “Select ‘None of these apply to me’ on the screen Does one of these uncommon situations apply? Then Continue” doesn’t apply because no boxes or questions related to that were presented to me. Suggestion: Change the phrasing of the question from “Did you receive income for this farm reported to you on Form 1099-NEC?” to “Did you receive income for a farm or business reported to you on Form 1099-NEC?”.
This is so frustrating! This is about the third year I have run into this. I don't have farm income but Turbotax keeps asking me to add it. There is no schedule F shown, so I can't delete it. I have unchecked the box that says "Do you have farm income" but it doesn't "stick" - it keeps asking me. Aarrrgh!
Something may be carrying over from a prior year that is triggering this question. It may be best to delete this 1099-NEC and also any ghost of a Schedule F and rebuild the 1099-NEC.
Here are the directions to delete the form from your return. This will delete both the form and all the entries. If it rebuilds, sometimes there is another form recreating it and both have to be deleted to clear that information.
After that is clear, please return to Income and in Other Common Income select Form 1099-NEC and the interview should take you back to the screen where you can select None of These Apply to Me, as below.
My question may have had erroneous information. Turbotax is asking for my farm income. No 1099 involved. It is looking for a schedule F, but there is none for me to delete.
I am using Turbotax business, preparing a return for our partnership.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Since you have the BUSINESS downloaded version switch to the FORMS mode and look for the Sch F to delete it and any of it's worksheets that way. Something you entered must be triggering this form.
Yes, TurboTax Business is different. You may have a carryover or an option that was selected on a form from a previous year that is triggering this question.
There is no schedule F listed and no incomplete form refers to farming, If I go to “income” or ”deductions” the program says ‘you indicated earlier that you have income from farming activity" – although I don’t! If I go to the topic list – farming – I say I have no farming activity – but if I ever go back to that it still shows that checked.
Ok ... switch to the FORMS mode and look down the list of forms on the left ... do any of them have a red ! mark
next to them ? If so this is where there is an error that needs to be attended to so click on that form to view it in the window. Then look for any boxes colored in reddish pink ... that is what needs to be corrected. Also when in the FORMS mode, above the list, should be the option to do an error check ... once you make the correction click on it to see if it goes away.
If you still cannot make the correction then contact TT support so they can walk you thru it ...
See this TurboTax support FAQ on how to contact Support - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-contact-turbotax/00/26991
Same problem here. Desktop Business version. This is getting really intrusive; everytime I switch between topics, the note pops up. No errors, no Form F, no question about Farm Income. Called support yesterday, they couldn't help, but finally suggested I call Business Services at [phone number removed]. Turns out it is the IRS. Not cool. I don't think TT has a fix and we are just SOL. I called again today; Support put me on hold and then disconnected me.
Yes, this feature is working and no schedule F is popping up on the business edition, if you uploaded your previous income tax with Sch F, it may automatically populate (if not, delete the form). When on the Business income page select start like the image below:
Then select I did not receive farm income:
If a schedule F is popping up in forms, delete it.
In the search menu type farm income, select the blue jump to link and
If all else fails, clear your cache and cookies, update your software, and reboot your computer. If you still have problems let us know in this thread. Thanks for your patience.
Thank you. You are showing the Home and Business version. I'm using the Advantage Business download version. Apparently the screens are different. But thank you for trying.
How you get to the issue is the same ... may I suggest you switch to the FORMS mode and look down the forms list on the left for anything with a red ! mark
Critter3: thanks so much. Not sure exactly what you mean; the tabs that MichaelG refers to don't exist in the Business version.
I have no red asterisks in Form View. No errors in the return. No Form F.
I've found another similar thread in the forum with no other answers and more frustration.
One of the messages I'm getting suggest I select the 'Business Info' tab and continue until you reach the 'Farming Business' screen. No such screen appears when I click through the 'Business Info' screens. Does this help.
BTW, I just checked to make sure I had all the updates. I do.
This screen in TurboTax Business can be accessed by selecting Business Info, then Farming.
Select No unless you have previously cycled through this section. If you have previously cycled through this section, you may have to select Yes and delete any entries that have previously been entered.
Critter3 is correct. You are able to select FORMS in the upper right hand corner of the screen to activate FORMS view. Click OPEN FORM in the upper left under the word TurboTax. Enter 'schedule f' or perhaps '4835' and select Open Form. If the form comes up, click Delete Form at the bottom of the page.
Interesting
The only tabs under Business Info are 'About Your Business'' and 'Shareholder Info'. There are no questions in the 'About Your Business' about Farming.
I access Form View from the 'View' Tab on the upper left corner.
This strange.
Perhaps you are using the online version? I have the desktop downloaded version. No?
Be sure you are filing your farm business under the correct business structure. If the only items under Business Info are About Your Business and Shareholder Info, you are using TurboTax Business to file a Form 1120S U.S Income Tax Return for an S-Corporation. An S-Corp does not use Schedule F to report farm income, it merely treats the income as income and expenses of the business.
If you have not formed your farm as an S-Corp or have elected to have your LLC treated as an S-Corp for tax purposes, you are filing the wrong form.
Thanks Alicia. Right on all counts. This is an 1120S. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier. The point being is I never had Farm Income, never indicated I had Farm Income and can't find the 'switch' to turn off the silly messages saying that I had indicated earlier that I had Farming Activity. This is something I saw doing last year's return, but this year it is popping up everytime I finish an entry. I assume it is something that carried over from last year's return (also an 1120S).
There are a couple places you can check to be sure you don't have your return set up as a farming enterprise:
Type of Business = Repair/Maintenance
Product or Service Provided = Car Repair
Business Activity Code = 811110
Nope, doesn't sound like Farming Activity to me...
