The installation .exe or .dmg file must be opened and most OS have that ability ... make sure your OS is up to date.

Where did you buy your copy of turbotax? It should not require any compression program to open. Did you possibly purchase a copy from an unauthorized vendor?
My TruboTAx will not load. Asks for WINZIP.
Sounds like it's either a corrupt download and you need to download it again, or it may have been purchased from an unauthorized vendor who has made changes to the downloaded file. It's also possible that whatever version of Windows you are using may have an unrelated issue causing this.
But I doubt it windows. Sounds to me more like an altered download, since all versions of Windows since Windows 7 have the unzip function built into the operating system.
I purchased from Amazon. Sold by Amazon.com - Services LLC and their customer service agent could not help to download without Winzip. I have window 10
