Importing Profile to Premier previous tax files

Hi, my accountant send me last years tax files using the 2018 'Profile' version.

I bought the 2019 'Premier' version and notice that they do not directly import.

Is there a way to convert these files into 'Premier' 2019 TurboTax files?

Thank you kindly

Bill

You are correct, the PDF is limited; however, you won't be able to import any other program's actual tax file, sorry.

You might be able to transfer your last year's return from your account into TurboTax if if is a PDF file.

If not, you could try requesting a PDF file from them.

I am hoping to import the actual file, to get everything verses a portion since the pdf appears to be limited.

If there are no available options, then that is what I will have to do.

Thanks very much for the reply!

Okay, last attempt...

Is there an option, where the 'ProFile' version can save a return as a 'Premier' version?  Not holding my breath here as I am sure you would have mentioned that option if it was possible.

Thanks Again

Being new to TurboTax, I was under the impression that 'ProFile' was a higher version of TurboTax than 'Premier'... but I now see that it is a completely different vendor.  I will check them to see if they have an export option that is compatible with TurboTax.

I now have PDF files from 2018 (Profile), but turbotax only looks for .tt19 files, does not appear to have an option to see .pdf files?  The 'Transfer 2018 Return' looks for .tt18 files.  Is there a step that looks for .pdf files, I am missing something....  I think an easy answer, which is likely that TurboTax does not recognize 2018 PDFs from Profile... but I would think it would at least see the PDF file, then reject it, if that was the case???

Cheers

If you have a electronic version of the PDF you can upload it into TurboTax. Do not choose transfer from TurboTax when you select to start a new return. Select the method you used to file last year and use the help links and instructions to transfer your PDF and to change your filing status (like single or married filing jointly) if different.

Okay, been busy for the last 3 weeks and following up on this.

So, I do not have a PDF of TurboTax, I have a PDF of last years return from a tax program called "Profile".

I thought TurboTax could read in a PDF of another Tax Program, but from what I see, it can not?

Thank you, just trying to confirm before I start from scratch...

Cheers

Are you using the Premier Online version or the Desktop installed program?

Transfer pdf to Online version.  See the section if you used other software last year.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/entering-importing/help/how-do-i-transfer-last-year-s-return-into-turbotax-online/00/25953

Transfer pdf to Windows Desktop

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/entering-importing/help/transfer-last-year-s-return-to-turbotax-for-windows/00/26145

If you can’t transfer it to the Desktop program you might be able to transfer it into the Online version.  Online looks like it takes more kinds of pdf than the Desktop program.

Then you can move your online return into your Desktop program to continue without paying for Online,
