As long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered, you can erase your return and start from scratch in TurboTax Online.

  1. Sign in and select a topic to continue your return.
  2. On the next screen, from the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then Clear & Start Over (select the menu icon in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).
  3. Answer Yes in the pop-up to confirm.

This is the left hand panel TurboTax Deluxe Online.  Select Clear & Start Over to restart a new tax return

Tax Tools does not appear on my screen.    I need the previous screen but cannot get back to it.

Turbo Tax really sucks... I don't have an option to go to tax tools nor can I select a topic to move forward. All it shows is the state return and it won't move forward beyond that.

You have to be in your tax return on the screen.  Click on Add a State to let you back into your return.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.

This will take you back to the 2019 online tax return.

In order to have access to the tax tools menu, your tax return *MUST* be open so that you can edit it. So until you open the tax return after logging into your account, you can't do anything.

Are you on a mobile device?  You might have to select the menu icon in the upper left corner.  Or log in from a computer.  What do you see on the left side?  Or are you using the Desktop program?

@Calratha Robinson Which version of Turbo Tax are you currently using?

You have to pull up your return and select review. Then tax tools should show up.

I do not see this supposed Left Menu (black). Please tell me how to get to it.  When my form is open I only have the list of Forms to the left.  When I go to my top (browser) menu it only has tabs for File, Edit, View. Forms, etc.  Please tell me how to - from the very first character typed and where to type it) to get to the proper site to see Tax Tools.

Are you viewing TurboTax through the app, through the TurboTax website or through desktop software?  The visual display can be different for the app.

Dear JamesG1, I have a problem quite similar to the one posed for this thread.  Using 2021 Premier, Desktop, Mac.  My return is at the review stage.  No State return (FL).

No Tax Tools box, and i want to delete form 1116 that carries forward a foreign credit that I will never get anyway, and is causing inability to e-File ( per TT dialog.)  Can you help?!

@Tomkat-V  If you go to your 1099-DIV that you entered and find the amount that is in box 7 and delete it then the 1116 can be removed from the return.

Keep in mind that the amount in box 7 of your 1099-DIV forms is a dollar for dollar tax credit against your tax due and that by deleting this number you are giving up that credit.

Once you have removed the amounts in box 7 you can delete the form.

 To Delete a form:

  1. Select Tax Tools from the menu on the left

  2. Then select Tools

  3. When the new menu pops up select Delete a Form

  4. You will see a list of all the forms in your return

  5. Find the form that you want to delete (Form 1116)

  6. Select the Form

  7. Click Delete on the right

Tax forms are interconnected.  While you are on this screen don’t start deleting forms you don’t recognize.

-Log in and go to your tax return.

-You should be in the tax home tab on the left.

-Scroll to bottom where it says, "Your Account" and click.

-Then click on "View Order Summary."

-Now on the left should be all the options including "Tax Tools."

-Works on free version online

Not available for me either.  Apparently I need to delete Schedule C, but I can't access it

You need to get into the return and you might need to scroll down a bit to find it.
