I am receiving Error: 70001:Turbo Tax is already running under another account. ... What does this error message mean?

The error message further tells me to "Switch users and run TurboTax from the other account to continue."

Error 70001, usually means that you have 2 TurboTax Desktop Software programs, running at the same time. To fix this, do a forcefully uninstall, reboot your computer, and reinstall the software. I received an easier solution when I Googled the question.  Thanks.  If it the error message continues I will try uninstall and reinstall.

If the general consensus regarding the Operative word in the Error 70001 msg. "TurboTax is already

running under

  account. ..." is 

running , should

 the prescription not be

  • to STOP all TTax related prcesses (using Task Manager and perhaps verifying and escalating along THIS path:  logging out and back in > restarting the syatem )   rather than
  • Uninstalling TTax ?

What am I missing ?

What if I do nothing? The error only comes up when I close the app

After I reinstall Turbotax, a week later the error reappears even though the program is only running on my desktop. How can I fix the problem permanently????

There are probably updates to the operating system and/or software that need to be installed.  Restart your computer and see if the problem persists.
